How many of you shop at a food co-op?

We are lucky to have a food co-op locally. Food co-ops generally offer great health foods, organic fruits and vegetables and hard to get health foods that many vegans enjoy. I personally enjoy finding healthier versions and chemical free versions of the foods we eat. They also offer, in our store, some great cleaning products when using household products to do the cleaning just doesn't quite cut it. At least I know I'm making an effort to living chemical free and healthy when I can. I feel so lucky to have our food co-op though. How many of you have one available to you?

We have health and organic food shops here as well but I rarely go to those shops. I should though as it would improve my health quite a bit and it would probably reduce my blood sugar level by going to a store like that. Are these shops expensive? That is great that you are eating healthier and buying safer products to use. We all should be doing that as well.

Well, the idea behind the "co-op" is that it's owned in part by the people that can use it. So the prices are pretty fair. Of course you are going to pay a little more for organic fruits and veggies any where, but in our place it's not horribly more expensive. I live on a very limited budget myself, so I must chose what I'll spend the extra $ on and what I don't feel is worth it. For the most part you can almost always find better for you versions of things at a fair price.

Wow, I hadn't really heard much about a place like this, and it sounds like exactly what I personally need! My body seems to react very strongly to certain chemicals, and I worry about some of the products that we use in our home. My family also had to switch to more chemical-free washing powder for our clothes because the regular kind was bothering me. I had to stop using hairspray 2-3 years ago because it made me very ill after using it for a number of years. So I would also feel better eating foods that I know are chemical free, and looking for products in the same range. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! ^_^
