I personally think that there are far too many people in this world!!! The world is falling apart because people don't care about it or each other... Everything is just getting out of control!!!

seeing as we have too many homeless ppl,too many kids going without food, parents who cant get a job for various reasons and ppl who have 10 kids just to collect the welfare from the government...i would say there are way to many ppl populating this earth...it wouldnt hurt if countries would take care of their own either instead of relying on other countries to take care of their slack.i will stop there because if i keep going i will exceed the bounds of your question...

Guna, I think your manners are as bad as your language. And your post is not relevant to the topic. Solway, at the outset, let me congratulate you on your first post, you certainly have arrived in Mylot with a high quality post. Welcome to Mylot. May I also suggest, that after posting you respond and moderate the discussion that springs around your post. It does take a bit of getting used to.. but it is fun. All the very best.

Thanks for your warm welcome Guna! Actually, I'm very busy, usually with music, so a bit of moderation might get in the way...but I'll certainly join in when things warm up a little.

World population now stands at about 6.5 billion. In 1965 population on Planet Earth was estimated 3.3 billion. We are now increasing population at approximately 80 million people a year. RM Malthus an 18th century economist predicted dire things that could happen with geometric population growth. This has not yet happened. However as we achieve industrial progress the ecological footprint of an individual increases. Let me illustrate this. A man in 1870 would wake up with the sun, work the day within a reasonable distance from his home, return at sun down and having consumed his evening meal retire soon after dark. His: 1. Work did not cast an ecological foot print. 2. His food was locally grown and consumed. So no ecologic footprint 3. He consumed very little fossil fuel energy. Today - the pack of Frito Lay chips that we carelessly open has an ecologic footprint big enough to span half a lifetime of the man in the 1870's. The potatoes were grown and harveste in Idaho, using mechanical equipment, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. They were transported to Nevada to the factory, where other things like packaging materials were transported. The finished product is transported to a small village in Asia, several thousands of miles. The ecological footprint of that bag of chips is just so humongous. If the world continues to grow at about 80 million people a year, the ecological footprint would become unbearable for mother Earth! So yes, I think there are too many people in the world. And welcome to Mylot with your first post!

Not even Hitler can be blamed for global warming though he might have had a bit of a carbon footprint!!!

I certainly think this planet is over populated and 'natural' disasters such as the su narmi (*sp) are natures way of trying to get some balance back. Lets face it there are tests and hoops you must jump thru to do all sorts of things but anyone, anywhere, anytime can decide they are going to have a child.

Well i think the population is now too much for the capacity of our planet. I think its overcrowded. Whenever i go out going t work theres a lot of commuters you can encounter. when you go to a mall to shop or even unwind you cant! I think the expert should study if the population is still balance to our worl. Just my 2 cents.
