Why is that letter "r" in February?

Where did February get that first "r"? Does anyone pronounce it? All the rest of the months are pronounced the way they're spelled, with the possible exception of April, whose "a" could sound like the one in apple.

The letter r is put into Februaray to confuse us all. It isnt pronounced usually and makes us all feel stupid. I think we should all boycott the month of february and changed the name in general. lol. We wish. Best of luck to you.

Boycott February! Thanks. That's the best idea I've heard all day. Wish we could boycott its weather too.

The R in february should be pronounced. I admit that I do not usually pronounce it, and it is rare to hear anyone doing so. We have become so accustomed to the easy pronunciation that it has become established.
