Marketing Opportunity for fruit and vegetables produced in Swaziland

July 4, 2006 1:07pm CST
NAMBoard is encountering problems with identifying access to adequate markets for agricultural products that are viable and efficient. A need to strengthen the quality of production to compete in global markets in neighbouring countries is essential to present an opportunity in the industry. Farmers in Swaziland are not well organized to make farming more meaningful. Participating farmers are only those that are in Swazi Nation Land without developed infrastructure, lack financing by local banking fraternity and lack farming management skills. Encounter problems in sustaining production over a 12 month cycle to match market demands, are not in a position to produce quality produce to be able to compete in the open market with other agricultural products.
