Yes, Stars go up as well as down!

Ukchriss, it's taken me over a week to get my star back to an eight, but I am also living proof that our stars can get back up there, no matter what happens. I thought that it was never going to happen. But I do still worry about it, because it seems like my earnings are sinking more and more even while my rating goes back up. I sure wish that I understood it, but I still love the Mylot site dearly. I would be making almost no money at all without it these days, and I really can't live without my online income :/ I always give you plusses when I can, so I hope that I've helped! I'm really glad that your star is on the rise again ^_^

Yes I have noticed that, mine went right back up I think a day later after dropping from a 10 to a 9. I think my percentage is in a place where,a point makes the diffrence. BTW I have not made a post yet, but I do want to say thank you to all my friends for supporting me. Thanks :-)

Good to see you at 10 ten again. How many (-) does it take for your star to drop, I've never understood how it works and how many (+) you need to go up a star.

I'm happy to hear that your star has gone back to a ten. A lot of people here to-day have been mentioning about there star rating going down, and I have spent the day responding to and rating their discussions to help restore them to their original rating. I think that is the best thing about having friends on myLot. We can all help each other out.

Glad to know that you got your star back at 10. It's all because we have good friends here to help us. Let's hope we will always help each other like this.

Yes mine was at a 9 and now at a 7. I don't apy it too much mind though. It seem they fluctuate like the stock market, heh heh.

lol yea tats true it all depends on the amount of time you spend on mylot and the quality of post u make i think the avg no of post u should make to maintain a star of 10 is 15-20 if im not mistaken

Now I get it. I read all of your answers and see that if someone gives you negative feedback that hurts your star rating. I have never done that to anyone, nor will I ever. Even if someone says something that I am in TOTAL disagreement with, each of us has a right to our own opinion and should be allowed to state it ~Donna and yes my dear sweet Chriss, stars twinkle and go round and round (that is the best piece of poetry I have ever written!)

I'm glad that you got your 10 star back :) Yes it's nice when we can depend on our friends to help when someone "rate attack" us, it didn't happen to me yet but I'm more confident now that when it goes down it can goes right back up :) And I do rate all of my friends all of the time not just at my own discussions but anywhere I find them :)

I don't worry just love the discussions i seem to find out more about my friends everyday!

I admit mystar never goes down, either stays or up, but then again it has nothing to do with earnings anyway. What if someone dislike you and then just go reporting you or marking you negative then your star goes down, is it worth losing sleep or venting for? I don't think so. As long as you don't break the rules on here, really you have nothing to worry about.

I don't think we should be too worried about the rating. Would you believe that I got a rating of 2 when I hit 100 posts? I searched long and hard because I find a rare 4 or 6, but never a 2, ha! I suspect it is by some perverse algorithm of myLot and not the "-" rating I might have gotten. Why do I say that? Because for all the responses I made, I tried to be intelligent and relevant and to not offend. There is no reason why I should have gotten a 2 but I got it anyway. Live with it I would say. For a 9 or 10, take it from another angle. There is beauty in imperfection, no? :P

This is reassuring :0) I'm still new here and was talking about stars, my star was going up since it appeared but now i know it can go up and down, if it drops for a while i will not be alarmed :)

It's just a little movement when folks give you a minus rating for some discussion they didn't quite like .. and the 10 star rating seems to be quite a narrow band from 95%-100% so it's pretty easy to go up and down .. as I am sure most of us hover around the 97% much of the time .. I find my star percentage rating mostly goes down overnight when the eastern side of the world is working hard in here .. and then generally it pops back up again in the early afternoon when the N American members start logging in .. Just shows you can't please all people .. however hard you try .. and I have gone back over a few posts to see if I have been 'critical or even vaguely anti to 'Eastern countries' .. but I don't think I have .. so I can only put it down to my writing style not being as easy to follow or to understand for some folks .. I do try to remember that not all countries have the same culture and background as I do .. but it's hard to write things in a way that doesn't make the differences more obvious than usual .. And now I've read that back it sounds a bit condescending and patronising which wasn't my intention at all .. blimey, it's so hard to get the tone of a post just right isn't it
