What do you love or miss about Cebu?

I stayed in Cebu for 10 years and have learned to speak the dialect and love the people, place and food. Now that I am based abroad, from time to time, I miss a lot of things that I can only find in Cebu. First is the laid back life, the proximity of places to go, the good food (lechon, kinilaw, danggit, etc) and the beautiful beaches. These are really just a few. If you've ever been there, I'm sure you would have pleasant memories of it too. Care to share? :)

hi. i don't want to offend you. my boyfriend and i had been to cebu twice last year. we need to go to bohol and planes from davao city do not directly fly to bohol but to cebu only. so, no choice, we took flights to cebu and stayed day for a day before going to before and another day after having our vacation in bohol and before flying back to davao city. yes. cebu is a nice place to go to. the place itself has a lot to offer. but we realized that most taxi drivers are into too much money making. it does not mean that i do have a foreigner boyfriend, we have loads of money to give to people. we also try to fix our budget. so, we were a bit pissed off with taxi drivers. we also got a hotel to stay for a night and decided to go to waterfront. it's just walking distance fromt he hotel we took. and since we love to walk, we did walk. and some people on the street just can't help themselves but tease and give us a look as if we did something wrong. we were honestly pissed off and decided not to go back in that city anymore. he stayed with me in davao city for many days and loved it there. people are respectful (and oh, i am from davao city) to anyone in the city. maybe, just maybe, we just did not spend enough time to be there. we wanted to actually after our stay in bohol. but since we weren't treated by people properly in that place, we decided not to anymore. but i have friends who love cebu. people do have different experiences there. my boyfriend and i's experience wasn't just lucky enough to be nice that time. sorry. but i hope i am not offending you. this is just how we experienced our stay there. and we felt bad.

it is unfortunate that you had that experience. i suppose if you really grew up there and stayed a bit more, then maybe you could have had better/more pleasant experiences to reminisce about. i've lived in other places too, and there will always be rude people around. so i guess you just had an unlucky experience at the time that you went there.

The first time I went to Cebu was summer last year. And the food was great! And I regreted because I was not able to buy guitar. But I will come back to Cebu for sure! And the first thing I will do is to buy myself a guitar.
