Off to the Wedding and to drink, eat and Karaoke

Tomorrow is our friends wedding day. We will set off at 8 a.m. to arrive at their home around elevenish. The wedding will be held at 4:00, but we have been asked to arrive earlier to help with the little things. Not a problem for me, I enjoy helping out. The wedding will be held in a church with just a few people in attendance. Following the ceremony we will be dining out. Following dinner we will go back to our friend's home for drinks and Karaoke. I am not sure about doing Karaoke in front of people. I have done it on PalTalk. It is not that I can't sing, I have a great singing voice. I am shy. Singing in front of people is difficult for me. Well, maybe after a few drinks I may be able to accomplish this. Time will tell.

Hey hope you have a wonderful time and I bet your song will be great. I love to sing but I can't carry a tune to save my soul. Should hear me when I clean house, I tend to turn my music up and sing my heart out. Have fun. Hope you stay warm. It is terribly cold here today.

It was a cold drive to them and even colder that night. But, we had an enjoyable time despite the weather.

Sounds like lots of fun. I hope you get over your thing about singing in front of people. I have always wished to have a great singing voice but alas I can't carry a note. To tell a funny storry. I was a brownie leader, so I was called brown owl. After we finished singing the song, the young brownie, looked up at me and said brown owl you can't sing at all. So be proud and let everyone hear you sing. It is very nice you go down early and help your friend set up.

true. this one sounds great. singing is one good thing to keep people together and have fun in a clean way. it also eases out stress after a big party! it's a bit embarrassing at the beginning. but later on, when you hear your friends applauding, you'll love doing it. so, try first!

It took me nearly an hour to relax and feel comfortable enough to softly sing.

haha! some do drink first before they get the guts to sing infront of people. but it's better to not drink. i mean, if you keep on doing this, drinking and getting a bit drunk just to get the courage to be singing infront of the people, you won't be able to build the confidence that you really need. i don't drink and i can sing. my dad's friend who owns a videoke shop invited me one day. asked me to sing and i really can't but my relatives who were there, too forced me. so i gave in. i was shaking and my voice is trembling. but the people around made me feel that they do appreciate me singing. from that very first song, they had been already requesting me to sing. and that's the start. i am no longer shy to sing infront of people. i have built self confidence already. it's not that easy but it's worth it! now, people invite me to sing for them when there are occasions and get extra money for doing so.

My daughter can stand before a crowd of people and belt out a tune. She still has a case of prestage jitters but once she is out there it is not a problem.

I hope you and hubby have a great time at the wedding and all goes off well with no hitches. I am sure all the drinking will be of water and MAYBE a diet pepsi or something. As for the singing, try not to be shy.Just think of all the people out there being in their underwear and by the end of the evening, you may be right!! Have a great time.

The very first time I experienced Karaoke (In our case here, its videoke) I thought I was shy at too...but when everyone else was singing, I thought to myself, just gotta try this..and I enjoyed it, you became less shy when everyone else is doing it.

It sounds like you all will have a wonderful time and hope the wedding goes wonderfully for your friend and his or her fiance. That is very nice of you to help out as I helped with my sisters wedding when she had gotten married. Dining out sounds nice and am sure your friends and family will have a good time with karaoke. I am too shy to sing in front of people as well and do not have a nice singing voice.

I hope you have a good time. And congrats to the happy couple. Quick question...what is Paltalk? I have never heard of it. I'm sure you will do fine with your singing. And your right, a few drinks might just loosen you up a bit.lol.

http://www.paltalk.com/ Here is the link to PalTalk. It is a chat/messenger type of program. We used it for years. Hubby still goes there occasionlly to play music. I am considering going back to try the karaoke again.

Elusive I am sure you will be fine. Even if you do have to have a drink to give you dutch courage. Once you actually start singing you will enjoy the music so much that you will forget you are in a crowd. I hope the wedding ceremony is beautiful and I would like to wish the bride and groom a long and fruitful union. Hugs to you my friend. Enjoy yourself.

This sounds like it's going to be a great day, and lots of fun! Are you spending the night? I wouldn't want to drive home after a full day and a few drinks... Small, intimate weddings are actually more fun for me than the big and showy ones. At least this way you can actually visit with the couple and the other guests and relax. As for the karaoke, shyness is nothing that a few drinks won't cure! Just enough to take the edge off of the nervousness! Have a Great time!

We did spend the night at our friend's home. After we had dinner we went to their home and had a few drinks. I do not allow myself to become even slightly drunk, but will drink enough to take the edge off. After about an hour, I was relaxed enough to sing. We had a blast. They wanted us to spend another night, but I had a job interview today. We are planning to visit them in a couple of weeks.

sounds like fun. I am the same way I am shy in front of people I use to sing in church when I was a child. Now there is no way or unless like you said if I have a few drinks to relax my nerves
