My dog Fluffy has been passed away for many years but I still remember him just like he is here today. We got him for our son on Christmas eve a long time ago and we lived in North Dakota. All the other puppies greeted us at the door but there was one that refused to come out from under the couch. Well, we managed to get this pup out and he whined a lot. We cuddled him and messed around for awhile with him and then decided he was the pup for us. Well, as time went on he went absolutely everywhere with us and knew when the car keys were picked up there was a ride in the makings. We had purchased another car and had two of them. We were going to go for a ride in the new car and my husband picked up the keys and Fluffy started jumping around and barking, wanting out. So we opened the door and Fluffy headed for the old car. He started to jump through the window and conked his head because the window was not open. He sat down and looked up at the window and shook his head back and forth. My son, husband and I were cracking up laughing and headed for the new car. After Fluffy sat there a few minutes longer (I think he was trying to get his head on straight)we all called at him to come over to the new car and he jumped up and ran over. He totally enjoyed rides and would pout if he didn't get to come with us on a ride. I still miss him terribly.

The first dog my wife and I owned was an Irish setter named Arf-Arf. The first 3 letters of my user name are in remembrance of this dog. While Arf-Arf was an Irish setter, she was also a very rare sub breed we called as a disel dog. You see, my wife and I unexpectably became independent truckers after acquiring and falling in love with the dog. What were we to do? Get rid of the dog? No, the dog became a trucker, too! I still remember Arf-Arf's first trip in our own 18 wheeler. When the engine started, poor Arf-Arf shaked all over with fright. Fortunately, that did not last and Arf-Arf came to actually love that truck. Before Arf-Arf's trucking career was over she had ridden over 1,000,000 miles, made friends for us all over the USA, and brought us business from people who wanted to see Arf-Arf come pick up their freight! Some customers even insisted that Arf-Arf come inside their offices. Everyone wanted to pet, play, and see Arf-Arf, the disel dog. We were very happy that Arf-Arf lived to enjoy a long well earned retirement after her trucking career was over.

That is a beautiful and touching story. Irish setters are known to be well mannered and gentle dogs and along with that they are very beautiful. Our pets love us and want to be with us all the time. It doesn't surprise me that she got used to the truck quickly. She had her favorite people in the truck and where you all she definitely wanted to be. Just by mentioning that people all over where you trucked wanted to see and pet her and give her loving also shows me she was one very special member of the family. Thanks so much for sharing. A beautiful remembering.

Hear is a story about one of my doggies. It was Christmas Eve. We had left over roast from the night before and were going to have roast beef sandwhiches. We had it out on the counter, and were in the living room finishing up wrapping and stocking stuffers for christmas. We were in there for sometime, but when we got done, we went back into the kitchen to eat our roast beef, our mouths salavating for it, and it was gone. All that was left was some remnants on the floor. Kishy was still licking her chops, and had that guilty look on her face, like she knew she did something wrong. We couldn't get mad at her, it was too funny. She also loved to chew bubble gum. She actually would walk around chewing it for an hour or so, and then she would spit it out. She was a funny dog

That is funny. Did you actually think she would forgo that delicious meat sitting on the counter. I can just see what went through her mind. Yea, right no one around and I am going to let that up there. Right! I love the different things that dogs do. If you own a dog you know that they do communicate with you. Be sure they know when they have done something wrong. And will try to get in your good gracious again if you indicate you are irritated with them. Love the story. Thanks for sharing.

When you are very close to a dog when they leave this life they stay very close in your heart. I have had other dogs since Fluffy left this life but I have never been able to get as close to them as I did to Fluffy. The memories that I carry of him are very special. He may have passed on in this life but I carry him still in my heart.

I had a dog once that used to like me to scratch behind his ears. After a long session of playing, Blinkey loved to eat bowlful of cheesey chilli. Man, did he love to play. Blinkey and I communicated to each other in very unique ways. Through telepathy, Blinkey would convey his thoughts to me. He was such a practical joker. One-time he wanted me to steal this guy's wallet at a 7-11. Needless to say, I didn't do everything he wanted me to do. I mean stealing a wallet is little different that tap-dancing on my neighbor's car. Blinkey was just funny like that. I remember one-time Blinkey was telling me what it was like to have fleas and then that's when he gave me the greatest idea of all time, using the restroom outside is better for the environment than using a porcelain throne. Until this day, I prefer to go outside than inside, Dogs are great.

I do believe that dogs can communicate with their owners. Just different owners and pets find a way that is good for them. I am a firm believer in the fact that pets and owners do communicate.

Years back we acquired an English Sheep dog from my step-father, Vegas (short for Las Vegas de Nevada). Vegas was very well house trained but one weekend we had to go to my brother-in-laws several hundred miles away. We couldn't take Vegas with us that trip and had no one to watch him so put plenty of food and water in the garage along with covering half the garage with newspapers. When we got home my oldest son, 10 at the time, opened the kitchen door to the garage and Vegas came barreling through the kitchen headed for the back door outside. In the process he knocked over both sons, my husband, and myself on his way. The poor dog had not gone to the bathroom all night or day. He had to go badddddddd!

You mentioning that brought a smile to me because something similar happened to Fluffy. He was a inside dog. Part collie and part german shepherd. Best dog in a house even if he was a little on the big side. Any way we lived in North Dakota and it was winter time. We decided to go over to our friends house and had not intended to be gone all night. While we over at our friends house a blizzard hit us and we had to stay overnight. We were worried about Fluffy and was sure that he would wet in the house and have at least one pile of BM. Also there was a piece of pizza on the coffee table that we were sure he would take care of. We finally were able to go home late the next day. We were prepared to see anything. My husband and I had talked about it and no matter what Fluffy would not be punished. Well, we got home and opened the door and Fluffy did the same thing your dog did. He pushed the door open and headed for the grass. I don't know how many times the poor dog had to stop but his bladder had to be overfull and do you know he had done nothing in the house. He had held it all that time! And to boot he had not touched the pizza. So of course, he got the pizza and a whole lot of hugs!

I have a japanese spitz and his name is charlie. My boyfriend saw these puppy from the market, and he instantly loved it because the puppy kept on luking at him, and its like saying "adopt me, adopt me". I guess my partner knew the words and so he did. Right now charlie is a year old and very much naughty. He always get the attention he needs from us. He's the only dog survived when there was a desease spreading in our area. I'm so thankful that he survived it with a good condition. That time all our other pets where dying of the desease called "distemper". At that time charlie was only 4 months old, and so we are very worried for him. I would always call up our veterinarian to check charlie if he's doing ok. I love that dog very much.

My family had a very bad experience with a dog. We used to have a dog when I was very small. That dog was very ill mannered and used to chew my father's cloth. once it even ate my uncle's purse which had a lot of money. We got rid of that dog when it tried to bite me once when I was a baby.

Well my dog loves to stick her head out of the window when I am driving (I think all dogs do). However, this time, when I stopped, I forgot her head was sticking outside the window, and I was putting up that side's window (car windows were automatic) without looking... and I accidentally pinned her head with the window! I noticed that my dog was freaking out when I realized and let the window down. She was fine, but from now on I am more carefull and concious about where my dogs head is when I'm putting up the windows.

Our dog named Batsing is very funny because he is intesively trained to smile like he is very angry while we let him understand that he should not be really angry and just act it out. We got several bites from him before he can finally realize that we just want to play with his angry face and later on he just goes with it.

Three years ago, we were over visiting the neighbours across the street. We had been warned a few days before that about a skunk being in the neighbourhood but never really thought anything about it when one of my neighbours asked if she could go over to my place to get the dog and bring her over. Well, the skunk just happened to be "in the neighborhood" so to speak. As soon as my neighbour let the dog out, she spotted the skunk and took off after her. EWWWWWWWWW That was the first (and hopefully last) time I ever smelled skunk as of course the dog got sprayed. It took at least a month for the smell to be completely gone and I also found out that using tomato juice to get rid of the skunk smell is just a myth!!! What works really good is peroxide and baking soda. LOL. I have pictures of the dog in the tub covered in the tomato juice that didn't work. It was horrible at the time, but we all laugh about it now...well all except the dog that is.

Great memory. I bet your dog didn't mess with a skunk again. I always wondered if the tomato juice theory worked. Now I know. Not that I plan on having a run in with a skunk.
