Silly question... are you offended by body odor??

I'm not. I guess I've spent a good deal of time travelling with some rugged hippy types, or dancing with people who have obviously sweated their deodorant off. Do body smells really offend you? Why? I ask because I consider myself clean, but not extreme. I'm real. My mother on the other hand thinks it's gross to go one day without a shower, even if you didn't do anything! What are other's opinions on this?

i'm not offended about it, but i wouldnt let myself get smelly as i always shower every day. if i was with my friend and she stunk of sweat i would pull her to 1 side an tell her as it makes me sick the smell of it. my opinion is people who smell dirty haven't got very good hygiene

True, or some people just sweat a lot... in my experience using natural products doesn't always work as well. I still use natural deodorant, I just add essential oils to it because it seems to work better.

I am majorly bothered by body odor- I have a great nose (I can smell anything) which isn't always good- Smells that are light for some people are intolerable for me. The stench of body order makes me want to puke. its just a gag reflex. So I say put on extra deodarant so you smell good- I don't say anything to the person or act rude- I just try to get away quickly!

Thanks! I know you're not alone. I don't know what it is, but I'm usually not bothered by it. Wait, I take that back... there are definitely some people who have absolutely putrid smelling B.O.... but in other cases, some people actually smell good to me! Like my husband...

I would say that general and mild body odor isn't that big of a deal to me, but when it is really bad to the point where you expect to see flies, then I have a problem. I also have a real problem with people who drink and then sweat. That is the worst smell to me and it just makes me want to puke. When my husband has been working out in the shop or out 4 wheeling and also has a drink, he knows that as soon as he comes inside he needs to take a shower because I cannot stand the smell. I am not against anyone not showering everyday, but if you have done anything active, have been sweating, have been surrounded by dirt, or have been drinking then the smell will most likely bother me, and it's time for a shower. If I encounter anyone who isn't family, who smells like that I will just walk away, but my family, I will say something. Of course they already know this little quirk about me, so I don't usually have to say anything.

I guess it depends on the situation. You pointed out that you were travelling and it didn't offend you - it probably wouldn't bother me either. Only 'cos I'm sure I would stink too!! But if it was in a workplace where you are just sitting at a desk all day then yes it would offend me. It's not like you have an excuse for not bathing / being clean or putting on deodrant if you are in a situation like this.
