myLot organization suggestions

I look at my interests and wonder what the people on myLot are thinking, a little bit of logic can go a long way. Okay - interest I have 1)Computer 2)Computers 1)Lose weight 2)Weigh loss Are these not the same thing? Hello, why don't they run these groups together and modify profiles to reflect the change, this would seem to me to be much more efficient? Also, I want to be able to organize my friends, the people who answer my question go on my list of friends first, the rest go later. I try to go through my friends list and answer at least one of their questions every day. If I can't get to all of them, it is only fair that the ones that act like friends get rewarded. Soon, the people who don't log on or who don't answer my questions will get deleted, I am sorry, but I think this is only fair? What are your thoughts on this? Think myLot designers read our comments or care or they just laugh?

I totally agree with you. The topics do seem to be all over the place, I can only imagine what their database must look like! I agree that you should be able to sort your friends into folders for the ones who reply easily etc I would also like it if you could be told if someone responds to one of your comments on a discussion. Its a pain having to go back through old discussions to see if you have had a reply to something you asked.

I guess, I am not the only one feeling these things, good point on the database. I definitely agree on being notified of responses to your comments, some of these questions have 10 or more pages of answers, and sometimes page loading is so slow, I forget why I am there or I just get bored and go else where. We can only hope. Thanks Deb

I do so totally hear you. Organization would be a great thing here. Also do not ask me if life is my hobby. That is insane. That is only one example. Not sure if Management will do anything about this or not. However, they do like to tinker with graphics and categories this just might fit that urge of theirs. I don't think that they even know we post and earn, they sure didn't the last the communicated with me 3 weeks late. Maybe one the stealth moderators that must be around will see this. Hope so.

That is so funny, I was laughing last night at the very same thing - life is a hobby. I have only been here about 3 weeks, but I like a consistent navigator on a site and there navigator changes on every page and there is no smooth way to navigate. They took 3 weeks to get back with you - I hope it was not urgent. That is a long time. Stealth moderators - I like that, it is an iteresting title. Maybe we should put a suggestion in with that as a tag, then they would know to look at it!

I'm just trying to work out a workable solution without ever deleting any friends and without ever giving any negative feedback. Do you think that's possible? `Donna

Well, It is difficult, I guess that we can keep our own lists of friends ourselves, separate from here. But it appears that the point of friends is to help get discussions off the ground, so if you keep answering the same peoples questions consistently and they do not answer yours, then you are giving and they are not, that to me says they do not belong in your friends list. I don't see that as negative, it is realistic. When I see people with 2000 friends, I wonder how many questions they can answer from each friend. I would rather answer the questions of 30 friends as often as I can, then have 2000 friends and only answer the questions of 1% of them when I can. In real life, I have very few people that I would call friends, and the rest are acquaintances and that is the same way I feel here. As for negative responses, I have rated I think every response a + but maybe 2 of them, and I left them blank. But if I see the same people posting - I don't know or something along the lines on my questions, then I will give a - Hope this helps a bit, Deb

I agree that there is a lot of overlap in the interest categories, but this is always going to happen as long as users are allowed to input their own interests and not just choose from a long list. I don't really mind the repetition all that much, but it would be nicer if it didn't happen, of course! ^_^ I do think that the Mylot team read our suggestions when they can, but they must be so busy! They are more likely to read our suggestions if we email our suggestions instead of just posting them here. But I am sure that they keep their eyes and ears out for suggestions that people post in these topics, as well, as much as they can. ^_^

Alright, another positive person. I think we can email someone, but without making sure we are emailing the proper someone, then all of it could just get lost. At least this way, we know that the comments are stored out here. And I think this way, multiple people can make suggestions about the same thing, which can be used to help resolve design issues. Thanks, Deb

I couldn't agree with you more. My interest section is so funny; I no longer can classify my interests. Same with organizing my friends, it drives me nuts. Mylot ownes are reading some discussions for sure and do care.

Well, I am glad that you feel that the myLot people are reading this, I hope that is the case too. I have only been hre a few weeks, but i am curious how often they put out a new version. Maybe they are working on these things as we speak. It would even be nice if we could drag and drop our interests and friends ourselves. But the friends seems to move about arbitrarily. Someone said that the friends is arranged by star rank, but when I looked at it, that does not seem to be true. Thanks for the positive comments.

I do think that mylot is reading our discussions and taking notes. :) I was thinking the other day is there a way that I can organize my friends list to go by who's discussions I answer the most. I couldn't figure out away. So I'm assuming that by this post that we can't organize our friends in the order we want them. As for the interest section maybe I should go back and take a better look, I don't remember seeing anything out of the ordinary, but then I don't think I have awhole lot of interests picked. Will have to take the time to check into that. So regarding the orginazation of our friends, mylot hear our pleas let us organize our friends to our choosing, we thank you inadvance. :) Good luck to you here at mylot!

Good luck to you to. I am hoping to hit the $15 mark tomorrow. I am not the only confused my this, I guess they have growing pains. I am available to work as an internet designer. And these guys could really use one. Wish I knew where they were, I would apply. Would be nice to make a living by dabbling in software again.

SO far as interests are concerned, it is very clumsy here in myLot. I prefer not to select too many interest. This makes my work simple. And myLots friends list, I do not know what to do about it. I only respond to four to five discussions started by my friends. And your third question regarding myLot - my experience suggests they do not bother much about the suggestions. Also it is difficult to change codes/scripts for a very busy community like this one. So, we have to adjust to it. I have adjusted to it and you would do better to adjust yourself to myLot. It is far more easier and rewarding.

I look under friends and i see only the ones that are pending. I always look to see what kind of stuff they post before I approve them. So I only have 3 friends. I dont want to let any freaks in the door..Lol. There are lots of them out there. I keep trying to take a peek at yours because you are so good at commenting. I work full time and sometimes I try to access this from work and answer a couple or two. It is really busy there now though so it is not possible always. Wow this is a run on sentence after another. I look at my interests too and there is computers and computing. I think those are the same thing. There is also internet. There are a lot more topics they could put on here. Maybe they will. They say to email them with questions but they are not really swift to answer.
