How can I feel God's unconditional love and acceptance?

I keep reading about this and I'm reading the Bible and trying to understand. I pray to God and feel I have a relatinship with God. I have faith that God will do only what is his will and that what He does in my life is for the better. But I can't seem to feel the love and deep sense of happiness that others who have a relationship with God feel. What am I missing? How can I get to that point?
