How many of you successfully toilet trained your cats? And did you manage to train them to flush?? If so, how did you do it?? I tried once to train my hoard of 4 but found it taxing as one of them just refused to be taught. In the end, I gave up.

Hi Angela...both my cats have been toilet trained and can flush together successfully along with flushing the toilet. (See weblink below of one of my cats when he was learning toilet training over a year ago). A toy was hung from the handle and each time the toy was touched the cat received a food reward. Over time they learn to play with the toy which would pull the handle to flush. Toilet training: http://www.mylot.com/w/image/1109838.aspx

Hi there again...the liner inside the toilet was only plastic cellophane over a hidden litter box underneath as this photo was taken in the beginning stages of the toilet training.

Hmm your picture looks a little of what I did to my toilet bowl when i tried to train them. However, my fattest bugger kept going into the plastic thing and toppling everything

Hahaha. My cat has learned how to fall into the toilet, but not how to use it. That would be great, though.

can't you put the toilet seat down so that cat won't play in it? My cat used to do that, she would drop elastics in it for fun, only to fish them out. I finally just learned to keep the toilet seat closed at all times. Now she's fine with dropping toys in her water dish and fishing them out.

What a cute discussion. But anyway, I once took in a stray and he used the toliet. The first time I saw him do it I almost fell over. It was hard to believe even though I was standing right there. Someone must have trained him. Now with my cats now, I haven't even thought of trying to train them to use the toliet but it would be nice if they did.

I trained my cat by first moving her litter box near the toilet and after a few days I would add magazines underneath the box to raise the box higher and higher so she got used to climbing UP to use the litter. (I had two toilets in my house of course) and finally after a few weeks the litter box was on the same level as the actual toilet. Then one day I took the litter away and put cardboard, and a little bit of litter underneath the toilet seat. She actually used it (it was hilarious to watch) but then one day she stepped on the cardboard and fell into the toilet while she was in the middle of pooing, and that was it. She never went there again.

My cats have learned how to drink from the toilet and play in the water, but I have little hope of ever teaching them to go potty in the toilet.

I would love for my cat to do this. I would put up with the floaters left in the toilet to not have to clean that litterbox all the time.

wow id like to know that too. my cat takes great pleasure out of ignoring anything i try to teach her. i have only trained her to sit and to beg but she will do those things only when she is hungry. if i try to make her do it otherwise she'll look at me as if ive gone mad. i think she rather enjoys having to see me clean her litter box so she would never want to use the toilet...he he...oh well i love her loads anyway
