What do you think of the name 'Cocaine' for the new energy drink?

Jamie Kirby, the drink's inventor, says that it is an energy drink and that the name is fun. Critics thik it is a cynical ploy that could tempt young people into using drugs. The drink is being marketed as a "legal alternative" to the drug cocaine, and that it uses a huge dose of caffeine for energy. The drink is supposedly 350 percent stronger than RedBull and has a whopping 280 mg of caffeine. What do you think of the chose name, 'Cocaine'? He claims Cocaine is "350 percent stronger than Red Bull" but that people do not experience the "sugar crash" or jitters that he says some of the other energy drinks can produce.

Actually I never care with the name of the energy drink we buy. Anyway I think it is a good marketing strategy, because all the people will listen to it! Maybe the 50% will try it at least at once. and if only 5% buy it regularly because it is good. Than it is a good name, and good business. In marketing the name and advirtising are very important. It advirtise itself, doesn't it :)

I did not hear about this, and I do not like it at all. But the reason behind it, is marketing stragety for lots of bucks. $$$$$$ Aimed at the young. It will work too. Blessings, M&M

I think the name is salacious and calculatedly irresponsible. It is designed to solicit jus the kind of attention that it is getting with total disregard for basic social responsibility. Sadly, it is also a sign of the times.

Call me old fashioned or whatever else you want, but I think we could use another name here. Open it up to a contest and rename it. Controversy is always good for business. Even though it is not a product I would not use. Loose the name.

I think it's a nifty marketing ploy. I'm curious at what point the caffeine level becomes dangerous however. I know the jitters aren't usually so much a matter of the caffeine as they are the sugar.

wow, i don't like that at all. I mean, kids go fro things because of the name a lot of times. Plus, why would anyone need something 350 times stronger than Redbull? I dont' understand that. I don't think this drink will stay on the market long.

I think it's a misleading name for a new energy drink.I think caffeine has also effects if taken too much.

I didn't hear about it, but I think the name is cute. It will attract a lot of people to try it. I don't believe in all this energy drinks. I never felt that I have an extra enegry when I drank one. To me it doesn't matter how strong this energy drink is, as long as it tasty.

The name doesn't offend me, but it does seems like they're trying too hard to be "edgy". I don't know if the name will cause masses of children to go out and snort the real deal, any more than kids in the '80s went out and electrocuted themselves on purpose after drinking Jolt Soda. But dang, 350% stronger than Red Bull? That's what really scares me!

The drink may sell a lot just because of the name but I doubt it will live up to expectations.
