How often do you go over your cellphone minutes?

I rec'v a major bill for my cellphone and it was bad. Hundreds of dollars taken away for excessive talking. This is terrible and I know there are some of you that do it to or either have children that do it to you. What do you do to prevent this? Help!

I have only had my cell phone since September of last year, but I have never gone over my minutes. Most of my friends have done this on several occasions, however really I rarely use my cell phone. I take it with me when I go out in case my children need to get in touch with me, but other than that, it sits on the counter and I use the house phone to make my calls if I need to phone anyone.

I find it best to just get the plan which covers the amount of talk you normally do. Mine is the 700 min plan

This happened to me quite a bit with my previous cell phone but I recently switched to a pre-paid plan. Ends up costing about the same per month but at least you never go over and get one of those huge bills.
