It's egotistical to disagree

I'm curious to see what happens to my star rating tomorrow. I'm at 92/100 right now, but I just got chewed out and called egotistical because I disagreed with someone. Why anyone would fly off the handle like that is beyond me. And I didn't even disagree strongly! I just said I wasn't sure but tended to lean the other way. I guess I better totally adopt the entire belief system of everyone whose discussions I respond to so I don't come across as egotistical! LOL!

tried sending you a private message but couldn't as I cannot if u r not on my frnd's list. so tried to add you.... Just had a message for you... I support your thinking of knowing legitimate v/s illegitimate sources of information and wanted to write to u in person so that Ms Lee would remain clam and not give out another flashy web site as her genuine source of information... I dint want to begin a new debate but at the same time wanted to let you know that your thought is correct.... Hope you have a great time... Take Care...

I can see that your star rating have not decreased. But is star rating more important then expressing what you rightly believe in? Would you instead try to bend yourself towards what the discussion starter wants to hear, instead of giving him another angle to consider the matter, which he might not like but still true. We cannot please all the people all the time, so even at the cost of losing a few number of post or a few star ratings, putting out what we truly feel is worth every cent you might lose from your earnings.

I agree with you. I still state my opinion. I was surprised that I didn't get a star attack after the way this person went off on me, but what really surprised me was that she replied to another one of my discussions shortly after that in a completely friendly manner. Maybe she didn't realize it was me or maybe she was just having a hostile moment. In any case, I was glad my star didn't drop after the exchange.

Welcome to the 92/100 club. LOL. I've been a 10 for quite a while and can't think of any reason why I should slide down to 9 aside from joining the religious discussions and voiced out my personal belief. I believe I've expressed my disagreement in the most polite manner I could possibly do but it's just that some people are intolerant. Unfortunately some are dragging religious wars into mylot forgetting that this is just a forum to have a friendly inter-faith dialogue, nothing personal. I guess I'm much better off avoiding those discussions now lest I slide down to 1.

On my 3 weeks here on myLot I've encountered very few myLot member who are so egotistical as you described and one of them even threaten me and the most worst he did was to hit every negative signs in my discussion to knocked me down from a 10 star to a 7 star and that was not so good experience at all, but I really did quit but instead I kept the quality of my post everytime I post a respond. We have the right of our very own opinion and we are so very much entitled to it and if some myLot members don't want to hear the other side of the coin I'm just curious if the road they are taken are ONE WAY STREET!LOL!!
