The best way NOT to lose your mylot earnings.

United States
February 9, 2007 10:06am CST
There are literally thousands of discussion threads from people bemoaning the fact that their earnings have dropped. There is a very simple reason for this and that is that mylot is cleaning house with all the multiple threads, nonsense threads and spam posts that have appeared during the past month. If you have responded to those, then your response will be removed also and result in a loss of credit. If you don't want to lose the money you've earned then take the time to respond solely to intelligent discussions posted by members with a high star rating....chances are those are going to stick around and not be removed. I have been here over a month and have not seen my earnings drop once and that is simply because I only respond to those types of discussions...good luck everyone.

I haven't seen my earnings drop either. Then again, I wouldn't really care if they did. Its only pennies and I don't come here for the money. I usually only respond to discussions that evoke more than a one word response.

I hear what you are saying but I don't like the idea of changing goalposts when we are writing for peanuts as it is.

Isn't it true about the number of multiple threads, nonsense threads and spams. I read about people posting 100 posts a day. How can you do that? I think I spend more time wading through the nonsense to find either a discussion that interests me or one of quality. I had a discussion going, a good decent one with at least 7 people engaged and one person writes "thank you for your post". Not to my reply, but to my discussion topic. What kind of nonsense is that? How does that contribute to the discussion. Go spam some where else! Yesterday I earned almost a $1 on maybe 20 posts. If you see my number, I'm not even at a hundred yet. Have been here a week and have over $2 earned. Because I stay away from junk. People, listen to this girl, stop writing useless dribble. Ok, sorry, didn't mean to ramble on.

great response...it is quality, not quantity that will get you earning more. There was a person who started a thread the other day complaining that they had only made just over a dolar with about 400 posts....can you just imagine how bad those posts must have been? thanks for replying and, just for the record, I'm male not a girl...LOL

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I guess I was just rambling on and wasn't really paying attention. Oops. Seriously, how can you write 400 posts and not earn any money? Bad bad posts. Bad bad poster.

I have never joined in on any of the 'how to make more', 'I'm making less,' why did my earnings drop,' or yah, yah, yah, posts. I only looked at this one due to the fact that it was written by 'inked,' a myLotter whose opinion I trust. Please take his message to heart. I have been member for slightly over a month. Never have my earnings decreased. I do exactly as he describes. I do not post answers to the threads that are nonsense and I by pass any thread that I fear might be deleated by myLot. Good luck to all on myLot!

For all the people who are complaining about losing money there are probably just as many people who made extra yesterday. I know I did. I've talked to a couple of my MyLot friends and they have earned a pay increase too. I've always followed this advice and its worked for me. If you have lost money, take note and follow our advice. :)

I can vouch for that. My payout was quite a bit higher than I expected. This is good advice. I would not have complained if I had gone down a little, as I would have known that I had posted to some kind of a loser discussion, or been inappropriate in my own. With this many members, sometimes this happens. We all need to remember, myLot pays because it chooses to. It is not a job, should not be a primary source of income, either. It is a lot of fun.

I guess this has been a shock to many people, having their earnings drop. This has caused me to be more caution of responding to new users, who may not have stars, or posting nonsensical topics. I guess we need to guard the quality around MyLot, people have been saying that there are too much spam, repeated questions, going on every hour. No wonder mylot need some cleaning, regarding the earnings, i fear for my earnings as well. Hope it doesn't drop, its reaching my first payout in a few more days.

I havn't seen any of my earnings drop at all but hey i havn't really been on in a few days. I've had a few family issues. I am glade that mylot is cleaning up the site and getting ride of what i call spam. The threads that are multiples but what if someone had started one of those threads and didn't know that there was one already out there? They have that and their earnings taken away. That i feel is kinda unfair to that user but atleast it get's ride of the duplicates.

I don't think that is the reason because our post are lose. I had never respond to a commercial discussion but I think in December one day I woke up with 10 posts less but, I forget that and I don't care because that was the only time when my points go down and I don't think that will happen again.

Thanks so much for the advice. I had no idea that my earnings could go down due to what I responded to. I try to only respond to threads that I like and have a good response for. Like this one. I am still trying to figure out how Mylot works with the pay and every little bit of advice helps. Thanks again.

hmmm quiet a great tips from you inked4life, I think that is true, many people get deduct their earn because the admin of mylot check the post they did and see it is just a one liner or may be it is just nonsense, but we can't make sure about it, since mylot admin never give explanation to us, in private or on forum, so its still a mistery for us all.

I'm really glad that you posted this. I was wondering just how slow my computer, not to mention my reading and typing skills, were to be that far behind other people in posting! I usually only have 10-11 replies a day, mainly for the same reasons I've seen listed here already...I'm busy wading through discussions that I have nothing to contribute to, or really have no interest in. Yeah, I guess I could throw in a "Yeah, that sounds good" like I've seen done, but those are the ones that drive me crazy, like I'm wasting my time reading dribble. I think the top replies I had in one day was 21, and I was here ALL day, my butt hurt, lol!

I do believe that it is the quality of the post not quantity. Some people would try to post as many as they can but it would end up being nonsense. I'am not here for the money either. I love sharing discussions and I am enjoying it without money involved. Those are just rewards or extra credits for us! Thanks and have fun here in Mylot!

Actually I have seen threads being cleaned out also. I have only been here for two days, but I have already figured out that in order to make a bit of money here you need to concentrate on the amount of lines you post the rating of your post, and the responses to your posts. Also if you using too much puncuation they dock you. Please remember that other people read what we write and decide whether or not we get a plus or minus. I like the pluses personally lol.

what about us poor souls who don't have high star ratings because we just joined? are you suggesting that we don't start discussions because then no one will answer them? just curious on your take on that

I guess I should rephrase that. Obviously if you have less than 100 posts you won't have a star rating. I would still respond to your post if it was a good one...should have made that clearer..sorry

My advice to you would be find a few decent discussions each day, make a positive contribution to the discussion. Other people will rate you based on your comments, and when you get to 100, you should see a good star rating. It worked for me... :)

I've learned long ago to stop responding to the silly redundant discussions on here. So many people do it for the "numbers" game, and to me, that is just silly. Yes, Mylot only pays pennies per post, but that is better than nothing, and what's the point in people wasting their time on posts that are going to be deleted anyways? Very good discussion!

What you describe has always been pretty much my policy and I have not seen my earnings drop. Typically I try to only respond to and start quality discussions because I believe this will lead to the greatest overall reward. Some tips I believe in: Make sure your post and responses are more than two or 3 sentences most of the time. Sometimes you can succeed in saying something in less than about 3 sentences but most of the time I don't believe this is the case. Make sure people can read and understand what you are saying as best as possible. Post something that is more than just chit chat. This will attract other quality responses. Well that is enough for now.

Seriously guys, to my ears it sounds really hypocrite to talk about quality responses and how much you loathe spammers. This is a forum where people have fun and m a k e m o n e y, if you only cared about the quality and essence of the posts and discussions you would probably hang out at a forum that was specialised in your interests, and not this one where every second person writes for the sake of making some extra money and not because they actually care about the topic. I can say that I MAINLY post to the topics where I feel like I can contribute, but the money issue is a factor, true, so yeah, sometimes I press post where I at another forum would revise or hold back. But saying that the money doesn't matter for you is seriously hypocrit (or however it is spelled) because you simply wouldn't hang out here if it didn't matter. For starters you wouldn't have to type in taglines for everything you post. And if nothing else it's a little bit of a competition to get some money, cus if you seriously only wanted the money you would probably have a job instead of posting, one where you would get more than 10 cents/hour. Please don't think that I'm mean or whatever bad attributes you can come up with, just think that it's weird when ppl try to hide the fact that they don't care about money. I honestly love the thought of affording an extra cup of coffee per two weeks or so :)

people are on this site to make money they see a comment/ topic and reply to it. you cant expect everyone to go searching for similar posts before they post, and if they are more than one on post of a similar nature how they decide which to reply to i mean lots of people have star's. they should only take point off of the original poster's not the replyers that is abit unfair

On some level, I think it's just the nature of sites that offer some kind of monetary incentive to attract a large group of people who are looking for "money for nothing." I guess that's just one of the less attractive aspects of human nature... but, as a result, there will inevitably be some volume of "garbage" floating around. In the end, a site like this will only thrive and stay around if there's a broad base of "quality content" interesting enough to draw new users. If you don't have that, sites fail because they stagnate around around the existing users engaging in "reciprocal backpatting" for content with no particular merit.
