Hi friends - I'm dying to watch a decent comedy flick.. it's been ages since i caught a good one. Can someone pleaseeee suggest me as many good comedy movies you have seen and liked ? I'd very much like if you can name the movie and BIT of the plot (if possible). As for me, I like any good teen, romantic or generally fun comedies like freaky friday, hitch, 50 1st dates are few of my faves.

SimplyJo, reading through the movies you said you liked, I think you'd like "Wedding Crashers," if you haven't seen it (Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughan). We found it funny enough that we bought the DVD of that one :) If you liked "50 First Dates," do you like other Adam Sandler movies? Maybe "Big Daddy" or "Happy Gilmore"? We are big Robin Williams fans, in our house, so we also got a kick out of "RV" (not a "critics choice" LOL... just a light, funny movie). Among his others, we've also liked "Good Morning Vietnam" (sort of comedy lol), "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Bicentennial Man" (has some pretty funny parts in it). I'll see if I can think of any more! :D

So, I polled my family for you... LOL Here are some they recommended :) - "Meet the Fockers" - "Stripes" (Bill Murray) - "Blazing Saddles" (Mel Brooks) - "My Best Friend's Wedding" (Julia Roberts) - "Notting Hill" (Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant) - "Zoolander" (Ben Stiller)... my husband says it's only worth it for a few scenes but thought I should add it here lol - "Liar Liar" (Jim Carrey) - "Bruce Almighty" (Jim Carrey) - "Office Space" - "Caddyshack" - "Super Troopers" (I had to buy this for my husband, he likes it so much lol) - "40 Days and 40 Nights" (Josh Hartnett) We clearly haunt the "old movies" section of the video rental place ;) but there are always titles that we "meant" to see when they were new and never did.

I recently watched a re-run of Groundhog Day when it was shown on tv. I'd forgotten how funny the day was. If you haven't seen it i'd recommend watching it, it's not a new film, probably about 10 years old, but it's great. It's about a rather obnoxious tv reporter who gets stuck in a timewarp and keeps reliving the same day over and over again. Because he's reliving the same day he gradually learns what's going to happen next and explores different ways of dealing with the situation. It's really funny and definately worth watching.

oh is it something like 50 first dates - where drew barrymore keeps reliving one day ?
9 Feb 07
Yeah kind of, but he can remember what happened during the previous days so pretends he's psychic and stuff like that. I would say that it's funnier than 50 first dates.

I really like "Taladega Nights" with Will Ferral, "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle", "Eurotrip" and "Clerks 2". Have you seen any of those?

I love comedy flicks too. I have seen most all of them. the best one I saw in 2006 was bench warmers. It was the funniest movie I have seen in a long time.

Well there are several comedies that I do enjoy. Most of them are older but maybe you'd like them as well: Aresnic and Old Lace: Cary Grant finds out insanity doesn't run in his family, it practically gallops. It's a hilarous movie about a man who finds out his sweet little aunts have been up to far more then just knitting. Father Goose: Another Cary Grant movie but when he was older. He plays a man tricked into helping the Navy during World War 2. He is stuck on a deserted island to report planes and ships. Well then things take a turn when Leslie Caron and 12 female students end up stuck with him there as well. Clue: This is based off of the board game. It has a host of stars in it all known for their comedy ability. Madeline Khan, Christopher Lloyd, and Tim Curry to name just few. Ten Things I hate about you: This is a modern version of the Taming of the Shrew. HOw to lose a guy in 10 days: This is very funny. Deals with a woman who has to write an article about losing a guy in ten days, the problem is the guy she chose to work it out on bet that he could get a woman to fall in love with him in 10 days. Now who wins? Worth Winning: Mark Harmon plays a confirmed bachelor who makes a wager that he can get 3 women, that his friends pick, to become engaged to him. There's a few for you. Hope you enjoy them.

I loved 50 First Dates and Hitch. You could try The Wedding Singer - it has both Drew barrymore and Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler plays a poplular wedding singer who gets his heart broken which causes problems with his work. then his friend, Drew Barrymore, asks him to help her plan her wedding and of course comedy and love ensue. Another good one is Dodgeball. Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller play competing gym owners. Stiller's character wants to buy Vaughn's gym but Vaughn can win enough money to save his gym by getting a team togehter and winning the Dodgeball championships. It is cooky and funny, with weird characters. IF you want to go back to some oldies you could try The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink or Sixteen Candles. these are all 80's tenn movies that are pretty funny.
