I love flowers but practically wise I'd rather be given something tangible or have a date. I told my husband, that I love flowers but I'd prefer a date or Cake for Valentines. How about you?

unfortunaltly, i made the mistake of telling my husband "not to waste your money on flowers" one year. Now i never get them.. too bad he only understood it meant to Never buy flowers! oh well, now i just pick some up for myself when i feel like looking at something pretty!

Yes, I also did this. Years ago I told my husband that flowers were a waste of money considering the cost. I didn't mean NEVER buy me flowers, just not for every ocassion as was his habit. So, now I never receive flowers anymore. Or candy Or cards you get the idea..I think that after so long the gifts dwindle anyhow. I wouldn't mind receiving a live potted plant. It would continue to live making it worth the cost.

I love flowers too but I'd rather receive something that would help me remember the occasion. A card, a gift or anything that would remind me of it. Of course a nice romantic dinner would be nice too and then I'll keep the receipt as a remembrance.

I always take a picture of the flowers. I think that's a beautiful way to remember them by. I do have to confess though that I just love taking pics. So that might have a lot to do with it :)

I'll have to agree, I do like flowers, just not as a gift- no longevity! My husband works nights, so " date nights" are few and far between. He has cleverly started giving me plants; some of which I've had for years!... Love coupons (found at Hallmark shops) are cool gifts too!;)

My husband isn't the type who gives flowers. And guess what, I love flowers! So it's really a surprise when he does give me some. A date or a gift would be very much appreciated but a flower or a bouquet makes it even more special. :)

I do love flowers also and the romantic feeling tha goes with it. My husband is not the type of guy who gives flowers, he finds it mushy and impractical because after a couple of days, it will just be dumped in the trash, unless you want to use the petals as bookmarks. So, for practical reasons, I would rather choose a romantic date or any tangible gift for valentines.

i want his love and nothing else.... because the feeling of being loved or the love alone is enough and everything goes on.

I think flowers are really pretty, but I hate to waste the money on something that will just last for a few days....and I hate that the prices go up so much at Valentine's day! Often, my husband gets me some flowers in plant form - a begonia, or a miniature rose plant. One year he even got me rose bushes that we planted outdoors once Spring was here! Then I get to enjoy them for years to come!

I like plants and rose bush better too! At least they last longer and you appreciate it more. More so if you have a green thumb hehe, I don't think I do. Oh well.

My Valentines Roses last year - My Valentines Roses last year that my wonderful husband bought me :)
Nope I want the flowers. I would love to have the date but sometimes it just can't happen. Like this year he's working 12 hours that day, 12 the day before, and this weekend. So my gift to him is a dinner of his choice. I bought him something too though. My hubby knows though that the only requirements that I have for Valentine's Day and our Anniversary is flowers and a card. He doesn't have to do or buy anything else. Even if it's just a single rose to show he cares. Those are the only times though he gets me flowers. We go everywhere together so he doesn't have the oppurnity much to surprise me with 'treats' anymore. I'm not much on boxed chocolates either. I'd rather had a bag of kisses or something.

I prefer something tangible too. My boyfriend once got my 60 dollar flowers and no doubt they were beautiful but I felt like that money could have went towards something more valuable

We just bought a house and can't afford to spend a lot. We got the kids each a couple of small things and will give each other cards. I also got him a basketball and he'll probably get me chocolate. I'd love an hour to myself instead...
