What programming language do you prefer and why?

I like Java language when I want to create a stand-alone software, I has a lot of libraries and good graphic methods, so with Java you can develop quite robust software very fast.

I prefer Ruby now, a very concise language and is object oriented. The only problem with it, as with many scripting languages, is that it has a very loose type system. This makes programs very generic, though it is also an important source of bugs. I also used functional programming languages and I just love them. If speed is an issue, then I generally resort back to the old C/C++ duo.
