I try not to make promises too, I just say that I'm going to do the best I can to make something happen.

The old saying is that promises are meant tobe broken. i never did understand that. If you make a promise, it should be a "promise". But sometimes if we see someone in danger, we may have to break a promise to keep a secret they told us because they need help. I can understand breaking promises that way. I can also see if you have to break a promise just because life changes cannot make it possible for you to hold a promise due to things beyond our control, like showing up a certain time but you got caught in traffic or something like that. You may have promised to be there at 5:00 p.m. but you got stuck in traffic and didn't show up till 5:30. Some people call that breaking a promise.

I think this is not an excuse. This saying that promises are made to be broken. it depends on the weight of things or reasons why this promise will be broken. I do agree with you. I am a person that don't promise much. I always say let's wait and see.... but when i also promise i do everything to keep it.... thanks for ur opinion.

Well I first try not to make any promises that I cannot reasonably keep. That's a big thing. Then if for some reason I cannot keep it I try to explain why to the person I'm breaking the promise to. I still feel bad about it but at least if I can explain it to them I won't feel as bad like I would if I couldn't have.

People who keep their promises dont have to look over their shoulders with regret and guilt. They have earned the trust and respect of others. Those who do not keep their promises live with broken relationships unmet expectations, and all the problems that accompany a lack of integrity.

its really hard when kept a promise that you didn't intend to break. sometimes it just happened. well, i felt guilty about it. there's this incident that happened to me when i kept a promise to my cousin. i totally forgot about it because i'm busy those days and i've lots of things to do at work and at home. i just told her i had to be in the office because my boss really needs me, i hope you'd understand. but there's still guilt feeling inside me as if she's saying you awe me.
