Growing up in America, do you feel kids in high school were immature?

This is not trying to stir up an argument or anything or to flame Americans. I went to school there and just want to compare high school life with others. I remember people always being in groups... the jocks, the preppies, the stoners, the nerds, and so on. If you were a jock, you were only friends with jocks. And lending someone money meant you would never see your money again. These were just my own observations. I'm glad though that when my generation grew up, they have become mature. I always thought kids in America were tough, although ofcourse I had my friends too. I'm glad though that when I started working and getting older, people were much nicer. What's your experience being in high school in America?
