I like to make my own breads from scratch. I like odd ones. With seeds, fruits, jellies and cheeses. What are your favorites, and do you make your own from scratch or a mix. Thank you.

Oh I'm so envious of people like you! I would love to be able to make my own bread (from scratch). My grandmother use to make the best brown raisin bread! We use to toast it on a rack over the stove...mmm...it was so good! I only attempted making it once, and it turned out hard as a rock :( I have to stick to buying mine from the store (where it's not nearly as good!).

I have always made my own bread. My recipe is my grandmothers and it make 10 loaves. Which last me forever now that the boys aren't at home anymore. I actually share it now when I make a batch. It is a very versatile dough and I can make cheese bread, pizza bread, put in raisins etc. It is also great for jam buns or a ham and cheese stuffing bun.

I use my bread machine to make bread for my family all the time. I have actually stopped buying bread at the store and gone strickly to the bread machine version.

Scratch baker here!!! Potatoe bread is a big deal for us. Whole wheat is the basis for most of what we make. Honey break is a big deal when we make that. For special dinners that one. With a bread machine, even though there are mixes for it, I always use my ingrediets. Comes out smelling irresistable. If anythin is added we put in on our serving of the bread, that way we each get what we want.

I dislike cooking of any description but my poor hubby loves homemade bread. Thank goodness for breadmakers. I bought one and I have just this minute taken out a love baked loaf. I just used self raising flour, butter, water, sugar, salt and yeast. I chucked the lot into the breamaker and it mixed it and cooked it. Just in time, I have now heard him pulling into the driveway so he is going to be in for a surprise. A lovely loaf of homemade bread awaits him.

Yes, I always make my breads from scratch. I have never purchased a commercial mix for bread. I love adding extra things like you mentioned to make it an exciting experience to eat.

I love to make bread from scratch. Yeast bread with garlic and cheese in it is one of my favorites. I never follow a recipe except for the basic one, then add whatever I sounds good at the moment.
