Are any Americans still listening to Nena?

Most Americans think Nena (the band) were a 1-Hit Wonder with their hit song 99 Luftballons back in the 80's. However, Nena had many mega-hits all over Europe and Japan- their first one was called "Nur Getraeumt." Even though Nena (the band) broke up in 1987, Nena (the solo artist) is the most famous popstar Germany has ever had and is still charting around the world to this day. Unfortunately for Americans, Nena doesn't like to sing in English. But, that never bothered me! I seemed to be addicted to her sweet voice and I don't care what language she sings in (she's also fluent in French and did at least one song in it). It's a pity because Americans are missing out on some great music.

I've had a soft spot for Nena cos 99 Luftballons (Or Red Balloons,if You only heard the English version) was in the charts at the time I was doing a language course in Germany! One of the Guys in my group says he did the course cos He wanted to find out what the song was about :) "Irgendwie,Irgendwo,Irgendwann"(Somehow,Somewhere,Sometime) was another of Her hits (that didn't travel well) that I liked, and I saw Her on MTV not long ago duetting with Kim Wilde...

It's weird because I, like most Americans, preferred the German version to the English one.

I had only heard of that one song. Do you know if she has a Web site or Myspace page where I could sample her music? Iliked her voice.

Sure! Her official site is: www.nena.de. I've got most of her albums from ebay, But you can see a bunch of her videos and songs on You Tube- I suggest a 2005 hit called: Liebe ist

I have not heard anything from Nena since their hit back in the 1980's. I guess we are missing out on alot of good music here in America. It's really a shame because most of the music I hear today doesn't measure up to the music I love from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Or maybe I am just getting old.
