Are you ever shocked by the amount of responses to your posts?

I just joined not too long ago so my responses have been from 0 to 11. Than out of nowhere I just posted one the other day titled, "one man's trash, another man's treasure." Boy did I feel like I hit the jackpot that day! Not literally of course, because I didn't get much that day but it felt really great to see that I got 74 responses! I never imagined that subject would be responded too so much. I even thought I would get more negative responses and I only got 1 negative one!
Thankyou everyone for so many great responses and advice!! Hope to keep it up!
So how did you feel when you first got so many responses for a post and how long did it take you? Tell me more, I'd like to hear about your experience...

I've only started a couple of posts here, and none of them have had more than a couple of responses. I didn't expect a lot, I guess. I post on other boards and don't usually get a lot of responses either. Maybe I just don't like to open up and make great discussions. I think I prefer responding to other people's messages.

I agree with you too though. It's much easier to respond than pick a good discussion. Doesn't seem like we get payed much anyways for posts. Atleast that's what it looks like to me. Thanks for responding and good luck!

Oh yes someday are like this the way we plod along and only receive not many responses but you were lucky with the one man's trash as you hit the jackpot with that one. That is wonderful that you received 74 responses. Oh it took me awhile to get many responses but now I have got up to 41 yesturday but I have not hit the jackpot yet, but I will keep trying.

One of my first few topics just exploded, and I went "woah!". It's always funny for me because while I'm actually online it will seem like my topic isn't going anywhere, and then I'll go away and come back to see it's become really busy.
I have had a few topics that didn't get a single response, but I have several more that got many. So I guess I'm doing all right overall. It certaintly did feel good to see that first one get so popular though. =)

On my first topic where I didn't expect so many I didn't see it going anywhere either while I was online and than the next day I checked my e-mail and it said 73 messages! I had to go run and call my husband I was so excited! Thanks.

I do feel shocked about the number of posts i get . Most of the time its around 3, but every once in a while I will hit one that makes more. Its really weird because the discussion I start are of interest to me so I think others would like them too. Those are the ones that get the least amount of responses. Makes me feel like I am a boring person lol

Yes, I'm usually shocked by the lack of responses to my discussions lol. I don't think my discussions are boring. In fact, I've seen some discussions similar to mine that have got on to the top discussions list. I guess my discussions just don't get enough exposure.

well, it's okey. i have discussions with 1 or 2 responses, too. but that's life. we can't get all the attention we wish to have. but atleast, we're having fun!

Yes, you both are right. It all depends sometimes who is reading your discussion when you post it or even your friends on your list how active they are in your discussions. Also, I agree, atleast we are having fun! Thankyou to you both!

Good for you. I can never think of topics to post so I like to read them and respond to them instead. So far, I have had good responses to the few I have posted and I was amazed to think that other members had like them. Keep with it now, as the more people get to know you, the more responses you should get.

Yes it happened to me too. Actually that was my 2nd post. I got 116 comments and I was overwhelmed. And that time too, my earning was high. And after that, I only got upto 9 responses from my other discussions and I even got a 1 zero reponse. But it's ok. Let's keep it up.

How do you know that you've gotten a negative response... I've been shocked in that I get a maximum of responses. I'm new to mylot just joined day before yesterday so please tell me how to know wheher response to my topic has been positive or negative?

Well, getting a negative response, you should know when you get a negative one because someone will say something bad or offensive. But if you're asking about negative ratings, I don't think you can tell exactly how but you will start to see your number on your star go down if you start to get negative ratings. You can also read in the mylot FAQ's section and it has information there about ratings that might help you out. Thanks to you both for responding.

i feel overwhelmed whenever i see lots of people responding to my discussions. it's hard to cope up sometimes, but i still do manage to read all and comment to most of them.
i rarely start my own discussion. i usually discuss things now about something that's related to my experiences in life. i used to discuss silly things 6 months back when i was just a newbie here. but now, i love to discuss more about my experience. i think i have finally grew up here in mylot.
expect to have more responses in days to come! and keep on having fun!

Yes When I was New I started a discussion about the reading and study and the next morning when I signed up I was shocked as I had recieved 300 responses. But as I started lookin them up I was more shocked that They all were sent by a single user by COPY n PASTE and I think only to show up on the top users of the day. And I think myLot has taken an action and Blocked him/her because I have not see him/her again here.

Well, congratulations and you are lucky to have many responses. I am not that lucky as you are because most of my post have zero or little responses. My maximum reponse is only more than 20. Sometimes I feel frustrated. But atleast I have a response sometimes. Maybe my title or topic of my response is not that catching.

You are doing good here as well :0) Yes, sometimes I think people would be interesed in this or that discussion, but turns out they are interested in the discussion just popped in my head out of nowhere:) I think most famous discussions are about relationships, because they are sooo dificult to understand. And people are so diferent.

How do you know if your responses are rated negative? Or do you mean the respondent just had an answer that differed from your opinion?
I remember I once posted something about a pen and paper or computer. At the time, I did not have many responses to my questions, probably because I was new to MyLot. The next day, I get on and I see over 60 responses.
It seems like on MyLot it's almost like the entertainment industry-complete hit or miss. You either get a lot of attention for a response or you don't generate much discussion for your topic. Congratulations on 74 responses for a single post.

Yes, that's what I meant. The negative response was someone that differed from my opinion but they weren't very nice about it. There will always be people like that though so it doesn't shock me. Well thankyou. Yes, I do have alot of those with very little responses. I haven't posted much lately, kind of burnt out a little, lol. So hopefully soon I will be a little more refreshed and ready to start posting again. I have alot of fun responding though so either way, still enjoying it. Thanks much for responding:)
