Last night I broke my specs, the plain prescription tinted ones I need to use for Internet and driving .. then I had a good idea .. well at least I thought it was ... You see what happened was that my poor old specs had got plastic fatigue and one of the little nose pad things simply broke off .. and without the nose pad they sit cockeyed so in a moment of 'sheer genius' I decided to superglue it back on ... I swear I put the tiniest blob of glue onto the nose pad .. stuck it very carefully onto to the microscopic hinge mechanism and went for a coffee ... came back 10 minutes later and all seemed perfect again so I put them on and worked away for an hour or so .. Time for bed !! So I turned of the computer .. took off my specs .... and YOWWWWWWWWWEEEEEE !! that hurt .. flippin specs were superglued to my nose ... !! Hey stop that .. I can hear you snickering away ... doh!! Now I admit the superglue was very old .. possibly 10 years old .. but I hadn't thought it would affect the stickability .. I suppose it must have taken longer than I'd thought to set or I'd put a bigger blob on than I thought I had .. But whatever I now had a pair of specs stuck to my nose .. a bit of gentle prising and ping the nose pad broke off from the specs again ... and I just had the nose pad stuck to the side of my nose .. No amount of poking or pulling would remove the dratted nose pad so I ended up going to bed with it stuck to my nose .. thankfully sometime during the night it must have fell off as it was gone when I woke up .. only problem now is I can't find it ... blimey I do hope I haven't 'eaten' it ..

I am sorry but I had to laugh for a few minutes before I could respond. I feel bad for you but be thankful that at least the toliet seat didn't need gluing.lol. It could have been much worse. And your lucky that you didn't have to go to the doctor to get it removed. that would have been fun to explain. But anyway, I hope you find the missing piece. I know how irritating it is to not have it. Good luck. Oh and I did learn something new here....never eat or drink while reading one of your discusions.lol

OH Patootie I can see you sitting there with that confounded piece of your glasses stuck to your nose. I personally find nothing super about super glue. My every experience with it has been that of getting it on my fingers and having them stick to the object or to themselves. When my glasses broke I bought a pair of sponge type nose pads and stuck them to the glasses until I could afford to have them fixed. It worked, somewhat anyway. Hope you find the little bugger that got away. : )

Sorry pat I just couldn't stop laughing my head off wioth this, made me remeber my time when one glass went missing and I could see with only one eye. Never trust spere glue and thank your stars that it was old, your doctor would have had a hard time controlling his laughter too. I am new to this but just check my profie for some eyeexcersise programme I have decided to promote its really worth the try and first three lessons are free, though I am still on my first lesson but I am impressed with the programme. Try it out , if we both benefit then may be we will both earn from it too.

Heehee ............ you do make me chuckle sometimes Toots! I have had many superglue moments in my time, typically with my thumb and index fingers, i'm famous for sticking them! I felt for you though, that part of the face has a lower pain tolerance level than other parts. I am glad you managed to free them :o) Time for a new pair I think, go on treat yourself :o)

Honestly at times I make myself chuckle .. hehehe ... I see two sides to life .. you either get cross and stressed and constantly whinge at things .. or you just have a good laugh and be glad that's all that's wrong .. :o)

That is one of the funniest things I have heard for a long time. That sounds exactly like something I would do. I love the fact that you can laugh at yourself and have a good time with your mishaps. Life would be so much better if everyone could take things so lightly. Your posts always make me smile-I wish you lived next door. I would invite you over for tea and a chuckle every day.

Do you make this stuff up? How come you have all the fun? Everyday you have all these exciting things happening. Are you thinking of creating a TV show? I hope so, because some of the best comedy comes from your neck of the woods. I hope you find your missing nose pad and I can't wait for tomorrow's adventure.

I promise I never make things up .. I wish I could because I would be a famous author and very, very rich by now .. All I do .. is have a daft thing happen .. I obviously have a 'warped' sense of humour because more often than not it starts me off laughing .. or maybe it's just that I am ultra careless and so daft 'things' happen around me .. I'm not sure what it is .. but I can .. and do .. find humour in just about anything ..

Well, luckily the coffee doesn't seem to have affected my keyboard. That is by far, the funniest thing I have read this week. I got a great visual of your nose with the nose pad afixed. Seriously, I do hope you have no raw area on the side of your nose. However, if you did, I'm sure you'd find the humor in it and take it in your stride! As for your glasses, our local WalMart will put a new pad on for free if you take the glasses in to them. I realize you are in another country but perhaps there is a similar store near you who will put a pad on them for free. Have a great day, and be careful where you roll in bed tongiht. Would hate to see that little pad stuck to your keister!

I also sometimes jokes on myself . It is a very healthy trend. Penny wise pound foolish is an old slang but in your case it was spects wise and glue foolish. In the process of repairing things we lose both the item as well as the money. Here in india we had a habit of repairing anything and everything until the item fetched an antique value. Things have changed. the younger lot is always for use and throw even their love and lovers.

well, i never like superglue anyway... :-) it is just too sticky and it is hard to remove if you accidentally spill it on your hand... but thanks for sharing your story... it really makes me laugh and relax my mind after a hard day of stressful work... good luck with your glasses... i hope you can fix it and you find your nose pad... more importantly, hopefully your nose is alright... :-)

You know I am laughing, and by golly I needed a good laugh. You also know that I am laughing with you not at you (snicker). You are so descriptive, that I can visualize the entire scene. What a hoot.

I've shared a similar problem, ma dear tootsie. Sorry, I just had to do that. Anyways, I actually have had a similar experience. I had my glasses in my pocket for some reason and my young cousin sat on me. One of the glass things fell out and I, like an idiot, tried to use super glue. So it was fine for that day then I took them off, the glass thing popped right out and broke..

Thanks very much for the story, Patootie, and the advice. I have glasses and if the nose pad ever comes off I'll know not to try to stick them back on with super glue.
