When a human touches a bird nest, does the mother bird really reject the young?

Sometimes. Many birds have such a strong nesting instinct though that they will nest in almost any circumstances. I have moved a bird's nest to a safer place before and the bird went back to the eggs. and at other times I have seen someone just peek into the nest and it was abandoned. Each species and bird is different, so don't take the chance.
