The ADHD Mind

A friend sent this to me, so I thought I'd share it with all the ADHD moms and dads:-
You are amazing. But many don't understand your ADHD mind.
So you can tell them ...
The ADHD mind is no more than this:
A heroic soul born desperately in need of sensation.
To you ... a moment is an eternity, a rule is a tyranny,
a process is a purgatory, a joy is an ecstasy, a daydream is a vision,
a hazard is a playground, silence is suffocation, and completion is death.
Add to this brutally expansive spirit the overwhelming need to risk, create, and express --
so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or businesses or buildings
or something of meaning, your very breath is cut off ...
You must create, must pour out your entire being in creation.
By some strange, unknown, inward urgency you do not feel alive
unless you are intimately involved in the risk of self-expression.
Thank you for having the courage to create.
For without your creations
the world would grow dull and listless
And the rest of us who are like you
would not have your courageous act to lean on
to inspire our own.
Rock on,

How cool and true is that? I love it, what do you think?

it's a nice poem. Some people say I have adhd. It takes more than the average time for me toget new concepts. I always read and study which make me wonder if I really have adhd.

I know what you mean, I've been accused of being easily distraced, no concentration, memory of a goldfish, no stamina etc all my life but only the DORE test said I had some ADHD, my son however has lots. I thought the poem was lovely as it views these problems in a different light, thank you for your response.
It it makes you feel any better I have jsut sepnet 2 hours trying to get yahoo messenger, with Gabs helping me, now she's made me delete everything and is going to try to do it for me, how hopeless am I - even with the instructions in front of me, lol...

Thank you very much rainbow for this very inspirational piece. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD of the inattentive type and i am at a loss sometimes on how i can help him cope with it. i just encourage him to give the best he can in everything he does, and tell him always that i love him.

Thankyou for this beautiful poem. My daughter is 12 and has ADHD She is the most talented little artist and creative person you would hope to meet. We have our struggles but she is a beautiful soul and this poem captures that so well.

Would hope that a few artistes that had difficulties would not make it so all did.
On the other hand we have been blessed by the minds of these folk that are wired differently.
Thanks for sharing this and teaching us about the special minds.

That is very beautiful. I feel in a way that is pertains to my son, CJ, who has Autism...He is so very smart and loving. He has so many wonderful inspirations inside his little head that he tries to get out; he manages to impress me daily.
He expresses himself in ways that most people could not understand, but if you spent enough time with him you'd think he was a genius in many ways.
He wants to be a Judge, a writer (like Murder She Wrote; one of his favorite shows), a pharmacist and so many more things when he grows up. He's just like other children who have dreams but his remain the same year in and year out.
I know he will be one in one or more of these wonderful professions some day; I have no doubt.

Thank you Rainbow! That is so beautiful. I saw my son in it in many ways. It is nice to have an uplifting view of ADHD.
