can you get a dog to show all three things? I had several dogs in life. The only thing I could teach it was to sit and give a shake hand. The only other thing was too much affection!

If it's a good dog, it will naturally have protective instincts when it needs to have them. You shouldn't worry about teaching a dog to show agression. Just give it love & teach it everything else you want it to know.

Eventhough it is a good dog, it needs to be trained. Otherwise it will remain as good dog with natural instincts without extra qualities. For that, country dog is suficient.

I didn't say it didn't need to be trained (obedience). I just said that for protection, there's no need to train it to be agressively protective. It will do that on it's own.

Use a leash at all times to remain in control of your dog. No training session should last longer than fifteen minutes. If your dog gets tired or bored end immediately and positively. Always end on a positive note. Ending the session with a time of fun and games will help keep your dog interested in learning. This is not my words. with the help of my friend I found useful site for you. With this site help you can make your dog with very good skills. http://www.seefido.com/html/teach_dog_to_take_commands.htm
