Linux is more better OS than the Windows in many ways. But the only and only thing that i noticed is that there are very less softwares for the Linux are available in the market. But for the Windows these are uncoutable now.

May be Linux is better than Windows but you cannot deny the fact that Windows is much more popular and easy to use than Linux and this is the point which really matters. Windows is very easy to use and it is very widespread so there is no compatibility issue and also you can learn in very fast. On the other hand Linux is a very complicated operating system as far as I have heard from other people and also installing Linux takes a lot of knowledge. And not to mention a lot of compatibility problem when you install the other software is on Linux system. I think due to these reasons people still prefer Windows to Linux.

well see i think its all depends upon the comfortability of uers ! i meant to say those who are comfortable with unix they are already working over it and those who are not they are already using windows ! but what i had seen till now around me is 8/10 people use windows xp , so i think it will take time to get into the unix and understand the things in it ! actually because of different file system and many things its not the OS for home user and general user !
