I think going to a shelter is Great because it gives a dog a second chance to be loved and cared for.

The breed of dog/puppy that we have is a Jack Russell terrier. I actually never bought this dog, but I was given her for a Christmas present one year. Because an ex that I was with wouldn't allow me to take my dog with me when we had broken up. So certain relatives decided to purchase a dog for me because they knew how heart-broken I was.. Because my boyfriend at the time wouldn't allow me to take the dog we had shared together.. But instead sold her on me without me knowing. So the people within my life thought it would uplift my spirits by doing so. But I am glad that they had decided to get a Jack Russell terrier for me. I think she is a blessing in my life. I absolutely love her personality! I love how intelligent she is, & how very, very energetic she is as well at the same time. She helps me to get a lot of exercise because I am always running after her.. Or I am always playing with her. She's just a bundle of energy, but also a joy! I love how playing with her for an entire day can wear me out to the point where it helps me to sleep a lot better at night. It's almost like having a kid on my hands, I swear. My other half & me have grown so close to her that she actually thinks of us as "mommy" & "daddy." It's quite sweet if you ask me! Another reason I am glad that I had gotten this breed is because.. I like to prove people wrong.. I've always been told that people shouldn't get Jack Russell's because they are to active, or to hyper, among other things.. And I honestly do care to disagree in some ways. Yes of course our little Jack Russell terrier enjoys chasing the football, or walking or running.. But she also quite enjoys being on her own & laying in the sun in the summer time.. Or just laying in mine or my other half's lap wanting to cuddle. So I'd like to think she's quite independent as well instead of relying on others to keep her entertained. The little cutie does a great job of entertaining herself on her own if you ask me! I also love this breed because I found that she learns things so very fast.. I recall when teaching her how to shake a paw that it wasn't long before she was doing it. I've found with dogs that I have owned in the past that they didn't end up learning quite as fast as our little Jack Russell terrier that we have currently. I love how she is so smart, & learns things so quickly.. It makes me so very proud of her each day. I also love this breed because they are very observant, they pay attention to the things around them.. I find when she see's someone coming to the door that she doesn't know.. That is a stranger to her.. She will let you know. I love that about her.. That she will let me know automatically that someone is coming to the door or someone is close by.. It helps me when I am in the kitchen & I am unaware of these things.. It's funny because each time she is looking out the window.. We always say she's on "window patrol." Because she tends to let us know when she see's something outside our window. It's cute. I find I have a similar personality to my jack russell because she pays attention some-what to detail like I do. I also love how affectionate this breed is.. I find she is always giving me & my other half kisses.. And always wanting to cuddle with us.. And she is ever so loyal. She will stand by you & when she knows that her master is calling she will obey what we are asking of her. She will even lay right in front of our bedroom door sometimes until we get home from going out to run errands.. We've had people babysit her & she will not leave that place on the floor until we come home.. Even if someone is calling her to come sit with them when we are gone.. The person who is babysitting her that is she will just lay there with her nose out of joint.. It's rather cute, but also sweet. In conclusion.. I believe this is the reason as to why I like the breed of dog that we have.. I think she is ever so special & is always surprising us each day with the things she does.. I love how she keeps us on the edge of our seat & how she has always stood by us when we needed her to along the way.. She is a family member in my opinion, she is apart of the family.. She goes with us when we go on vacation or need to get away.. We always make sure to include her in our daily routines.. She's a rather beautiful dog & I am proud to own the breed that I do! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

My dog is a husky/carolina dog mix, and I chose him at a local shelter. He had only 3 days left before he would be put to sleep if he was not adopted. He is smart, beautiful and healthy. Mutts rule!

We have a dachshund. We chose that because they are small, good with kids, and I alway had them growing up.
