on this board seem obsessed with debunking the belief in God? If you don't believe in God that's fine but why don't you move onto some other subject matter? Why do they keep bringing this up and pointing out all their 'facts' as to why God doesn't exist? Believing in God is a matter of faith. Either you have faith or you don't.

As an Atheist, I do not reject -- even less try to disprove -- the existence of a god. However, I find those topics pretty inresting in that they highlight the fact that the many Man-made gods are extremely unlikely to exist, thus providing a good 'counterweight' to the majority of Bible-bashers here who throw God into every discussion and self-righteously claim that His existence cannot be doubted. Oooops! Here goes my star rating again! ;)

All I know is I have noticed atheists on this board trying to force their beliefs on them. As a Christian I will not lie to you. You can only be saved one way. Through Jesus.

BTW Angel, I don't know what you are asking forgiveness for but as a Christian you should know that part of being a Christian is spreading the word to every man, woman and child. If you do not believe this is so then you need to re-read your Bible. Besides, this is just as valid a conversation as any.

I have not seen atheists at all today trying to debunk the belief in God. I did see a conversation about prejudicial treatment in politics against atheists. Which I find based in truth. I am a christian and find your broad statement offending. I concern myself with my faith, and leave others to thier own way of working out spiritual matters. I found that particualr discussion on politics fasinating. I am secure with my faith not to feel threatened by non believers.. not sure you are.

No one is trying to offend you. This is simply a discussion on the whys of atheist. As a Christian you are told to spread the word so what is so offensiv?

If I misinterpreted your post I apologize but you, too, are misinterpreting my post. I simply asked a few questions. I pointed no figures at individual members. If you are offended so be it. But I think you are being offended needlessly.

What offends me is your broad generalization that all atheists push thier beliefs on to us. It's as much perjudice as racism, or making stereotypical statemants against certian ethnic groups. I am not offended with spreading the word of the gospel as was quite clear in my post. You do seem to want to turn it around and into something it is not.

I'm drawn to the religious discussions here, because I see so many misunderstandings about atheists. I'm not out to deliberately convert anyone, but it's hard to argue against someone who declares that atheists are amoral, stupid, or hopelessly miserable without getting into the details of what underlies our lack of faith. Many atheists feel compelled to keep quiet about their views in the real world; so the Internet gives us an opportunity to address the types of people who wouldn't let their children play with ours, or wouldn't vote for us in a million years, if we ran for office. You said, "Either you have faith or you don't". I couldn't agree more. The problem is that, just as you'll find some non-believers starting what seem like rude, generalizing posts about religious people, you'll find religious people doing the exact same thing about atheists.

A lot of atheists are extremely adamant about debunking god or Christianity in particular. I think it comes with the territory, they reject god and insist on making others do the same. Its ironic that so many atheists complain about Christians trying to force them to convert (which I haven't seen anyways) when stuff like this is so prevalent as well.

You will not find Atheists knocking at your door handing you pamphlets. Almost every atheist I know speaks not untill spoken to by a christian first and then the debate begins. I believe here as Christains we sit judging a group of people that we should be embracing. Of course you do not see the wrong in "OUR" actions your to close to it.

Next time those petition gatherers for that liberal organization come around my neighborhood offering me info, Im not just gonna turn em down, im gonna flip out on them...

All I know is this board shows me that atheists do force their beliefs on other people all the while complaining that Christians do the same. As Christians we are told spread the word and so that is what we must do.
