The sound of the ocean

DO you find it soothing or disturbing? Or it doesn't affect you at all?
I love to hear the waves crashing on the shore, even when there is a storm. And it does soothe me, makes me feel calm and peaceful.
I suppose it is because I lived by the ocean for so many years.
What about you does the sound of the ocean have any effect in you?

I find the sound of the ocean very soothing. Anytime I am at the beach, I like to go on the beach at night when hardly anyone is there, just lay there and listen to the waves crashing on the shore. It can very easily put me to sleep.

I am just the opposite. If we get a cabin near the ocean, I find myself tensing up as the hours go by. I'm not afraid of the ocean. The noise of the waves just seem to bother me. My husband likes the ocean, but I'll take a nice calm mountain lake any day.

Yes I can understand. MY mother in law says the sound of the waves just seems to irritate her but she has no idea why. She doesn't go to the beach much, and when she does she's always ready to leave LOL
IN any case I do love the beach but I love the mountains and the lake idea a lot too :)

I had one of those wave machines that simulated the sounds of the waves; it really helped me fall asleep but when we moved it got lost or someone swiped it. I have tried others since then but none of them compared to the original. When we lived near the beach I always found it calming to go sit out on the deck at night. Everything was quiet and the sound of the wave rolling in was very tranquil.

I love the ocean, I would hate to live away from it...i like how it smells and also it's sound. Makes me calm and peaceful as well...I have lived all my life close to it and I am very happy about it, i feel lucky.
