Ok I at first thought they were used by people searching this site mainly, but not that I thought about it are they the thing that is used to choose the topics "similar to this discussion" that are under all your posts?

They help people find your discussions. Although recently i have been thinking about not adding them as it doesn't seem fair to the user. nearly everyone i've noticed does this but a friend on my list isn't now. Which makes me think maybe i shouldn't. Kudos! ~Joey

Thank you for this but how would it not be fair to a user?

Tagging our discussions are fine. Although for someone else's they might not like someone adding onto them even if they do help. (I've seen it from two sides) Kudos, ~Joey Thanks for the best response.. :) (delay here huh?)

Yeah I hadn't been on the site in a while. Very busy and then I decided to go back and mark the best responses on all my old topics I'd forgotten about.

Mainly tags are used for the search engine purpose, if a member wanna search for some topics these tags helps in getting the desired results, so if we tag meaningfully to our discussions and responses then i am sure your discussion will be getting a lot of responses, and also it helps mylot in keeping things in more organised manner.

I really don't know what they are for, I don't use them because I don't know what they are for.
