Do you grow your own plants from seeds for your garden? or buy plants/flowers from a garden centre to make your garden pretty in the summer? If you grow your own, which ones do you grow?

I like to go to the store right before spring and find a variety of pretty flower seeds. Then I grow them in a mini green house until after the last frost of the season. By that time they are ready to transplant to my garden. I try to have diffrent flowers every year, so I never have the same look twice.

Unfortunately I didn't inherit the green fingers that mum possesses, she is fantastic when it comes to growing plants and even fruits. I always remember she gave me my very own patch as a child to dig, as I grew up I started planting seeds, I used to love watching them grow and would go outside every day to see how they had grown, my favourites were carrots and radishes - mainly because they are the easiest to grow! Now tho I don't bother, we don't have the garden here and I haven't got the inclination or the patience to grow anything.

I don't grow many plants from seeds as I can never tell the difference when the weeds start to grow. I have planted rhubarb from seeds and that is coming along fine. I also planted hollyhocks from seeds. I planted them last year in pots so they are now ready to be transplanted. I just don't know where to put them yet. My husband doesn't like flowers or plants in the garden. He says they are too much trouble when he is mowing the lawn and he usually ends up mowing them all down.

Chriss, It all depends on what they are. Tomatoes I buy plats for; my herbs that are not perennials I start from seed. There is nothing more special than watching them sprout in the house and then getting to put them outside. I keep them on my porch that is right next to my computer room door so it smells so wonderful when the door is open. I usually only have some potted petunias, coleus, and pansies out there too. ~Donna

I don't unfortunately, although I would like to. I live in a place where we have no garden, if we did have a garden, I would grow my own plants all the time. I should imagine it gives lots of satisfaction, seeing a plant grow sucessfully from a little seed. We only have a few hardy pot plants, which have either been given to us or we have purchased from a supermarket or a garden centre.

I tend to buy bulbs for anything and everything I can find and plants from the garden centre. I am quite lucky as Shreks uncle has a nurseries so I can get healthy plants quite easily.

I have had several attempts to start gardening or simply plant a flower plant that my grandmother gave me. It has these beautiful white flowers. However, I think growing plants is not my thing. They say I don't have a green thumb! :( But I would really like to try growing my own plants. Especially the flowering one. Any tips? I haven't tried growing them from seeds except that one time in Science class where we had to plant mongo seeds and keep them under the sink... :) Advices appreciated.
