What is quadratic, how can you remember it?

it's been ages since I finished school but I remember quadratic as involving terms of the second degree and a quick glance at the dictionary may show as that quadratic forms are homogeneous polynomials (as x2 + 5xy +y2). The figures 2 are raised.
