I polymer clay microwave safe once your item is all done? I know you cannot cure the clay in the microwave which might be a clue that is is microwave safe once it is cured. I am wondering because I thought it would be really cool to make a set of microwave safe containers, for myself, that had a Wiccan theme. I would also like to make a few wierd mugs with little people or other beings at the bottom of the mug so that when you got done with your drink there would be these eyes staring at you.

Hi I looked into this for you and can tell you that it is a no-no. You can't control how hot the pc is getting and it will usually burn. Burnt clay = toxic fumes! As far as putting things in the bottom of cups; wouldn't do that either. Polymer clay is not meant for use with food. It tends to grab onto things and not let go so cleaning would be near impossible. Plus you wouldn't get it to just stick to the bottom of the cup without some kind of strong adhesive. Anything that is strong enough to do that and be water proof - I wouldn't want my food (ok in this case drink) exposed to that.

oh I was thinking of fabricating th ebotom dweller in the same continuous shaping of the clay, not gluing him in afterward, Since you mentioned the problem of toxicity I guess I would have to use a ceramic...eeeeyew....That sounds complicated.

Yeah I would definitely say that sounds complicated. You could make them as a Novelty not something to actually be used with food or drink. Ooh maybe 'break' off a piece of the mug and show the world that 'grew' inside?

Oh my! I'm not sure whether it's safe to put the finished item in the microwave, but I know it's not safe to put food in, period!!! If you go to the clay manufacturer's websites, they will explain it further. :-)
