Shopping Trolley Danger and My Foot!

Australia
February 16, 2007 4:17pm CST
Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know that unfortunatly i broke my foot yesterday while shopping at the supermarket. I had my son in the trolley as i usualy do with my grocerys, when my son leaned over to reach the potatoes and the whole trolleys started to tip, then the wheels spun out from under it and it tipped over, with my son in it! Well the first thing I did was grab my son and i must have put my leg out to try and stop it tipping but it skidded out and landed on my foot. I dont know if this is my fault for having my son in the trolley or the trolley was faulty? Either way I thought i would share this to warn others of the dangers here. Oh and to also let you know i will be doing my best to get your responses etc but it may take me a little time lol. Thankyou :)

So sorry to hear of your accident. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Glad the son is fine. Never let my kids reach, I kept a good look on them as I shopped and discussed everything that they pointed to. Offering them only what I wished for them to have. Anyway, hope it all turns out and you find comfort quickly! Take care and hug your son for me.

Thankyou very much, yes i was watching him and we were actually up against the potatoe stall (which is huge and heavy) so im not sure if it was the wheels or not? Anyway again thankyou very much for your concern and hopefully ill be fine soon xx

sorry to hear about what had happened to you. and since this discussion had been posted a month ago, i hope you are feeling way way better now. when i was little, my mom always makes me sit on supermarket trollies and as far as i can remember, i really have a great time just sitting in there while my mom goes around pushing me and the trolly. just sad to know that you went through such a bad experience. i hope it won't happen to you again and to anyone else.

Oh my gosh, you poor thing! You must be in a lot of pain. I have had instances like that happen to me too. So unfortunate when it happens, but at least your son is ok. I sprained my whole foot doing almost the same thing too. And another time while I was carrying my son down some concrete apartment stairs I fell, with him. I was trying to hold him back so I held my back, well back, to prevent him from getting hurt. I ended up getting my foot hurt, knee and back. They still are not the same.

This was written a month ago and I've only just seen it. I'm so sorry sweetpeas that you had such an accident I hope you are well on the way to recovery. It's anasty thing to have happened, and well done for saving your boy!! I don't know how old he is but if he fits in the trolley seat then surely it should be safe with him in there. sounds like a good case for the lawyers haha!! well you take care now especially when in the supermarket!!
