What is your timeframe to choose a best response?

I really made a point that once I started a discussion I will allot time to choose a best response and not select right away. I have to give chance to everyone to share thier views and opinion. Most of the time I let 2 weeks before I choose a best response and sometimes less than a week when I see a real good response. How about you mylot friends what is your timeframe to choose a best response. FOR NEW MEMBERS: (To add to this discussion also some members specially the new one really does not know how to mark best response I for example at first really don't know how since I was a new member and really asked a myLot friend on how to do it. For the benefit of all new member who are eager to know how to mark a best response just open all the discussion you started and from that on there is blue word states "mark as best response" after the name of the mylot member from then select a good response and click the word and voila you selected the best response.)

When I start a discussion I wait to see that the responses stop when they stop for a day I will then go in a pick best response. I do go in and rate and respond to responses first. Sometimes I choose best response after just one day but I have some that I waited a week because people keep responding.

I really can tell that you have lots of responses in your discussion thats why you can choose right away for on one day. Thanks webmann.

When I started on myLot I made the mistake of jumping in too early. Now, depending on the responses, I wait for a week, unless there's something outstanding. From time to time I check my unresolved discussions and add best responses there also. I have made some mistakes, that I can't deny.

I really think new members do have committed a mistakes in one way or another here at mylot and we are the example of it lol! Now that we learn from our early mistakes we see to it that we really scrutinize every answer the best we can. Thanks my friend!

Frankly sometimes I choose who is the first one with relevant answer is the one I choose to be my best response but most of all I read all their post and carefully choose the best one. But as you can see, I have many unanswered topics list so I guess I have to look back again and choose the ONE.

Before I really mark best response to the one who gave me the first relevant answer for some sort of excitement that at last thier is one good soul that gets the good idea later to find out that thier is still good answer coming. From then on I really allot time before I mark best response.

I try to wait at least a week and sometimes longer. You never know what may come along and it's not a good thing to lose interest in the discussions that you have started. I've noticed in the last couple days that discussions I started a month or so ago which got no interest at the time, are suddenly acquiring responses. So it's definitely a good idea to wait at least for a week or two and maybe even longer.

It is really true that we have to wait for a certain period of time and sometime in really depends on how the discussion is going.

I also let it run until there would be alot of people who gets the chance to respond to it. It takes about two to three weeks for me. At least i gave everyone a chance to say something and be the best answer. There are times when people only choose the one on first page and doesnt matter if people who answered later have a more chance...

sometimes it is difficult to mark the best response. it's like choosing among the best! there are lots of people here in mylot who gives out real, nice, helpful outputs. and just like you, i give sometime before i decide. i even got discussions for months which aren't resolved yet merely because it only has one or no response at all. so, still hoping for something to come. anyway, there are also times when i get to encounter a response which already made me satisfied and that i know there's no more need for waiting. so, i pick that one out as the best among others.

I wait at least 10 days to see if there are more posts coming in. If not I choose "best response". If the discussion is still getting replies although it had been started weeks ago I will wait a bit longer, then read all the answers and choose.

Marking the best response will depend entirely on how the discussion is going and alloting time to it make a good chance of getting quality answer.

I usually wait about 2 weeks. It depends on the discussion, sometimes. Some discussions seem to get all their responses in a day or so while others keep attracting responses for months.

I do agree with you when the discussion is generating more responses then you can't really decide the best response because you really have to give chance to others to share thier views and when you see the best answer then that was the only time to choose the best response.

Yeah, i will also take some time usually to consider best response for my discussions most of the time. But, sometimes if the answer i get is much perfect and if i feel i may not get any perfect answer better than that one, then i will give select response as the best response in the begining itself

Sometimes I do that too when I really felt that answer is the best one and nothing more can beat then even it is too early I really select a best response no matter how early it was. thanks alienstar!

At first I waited for 8 weeks to choose best response, but as I see only 1 or 2 or 6 members are responding to my question, so I do not wait more for it. When I find time I choose best response within 3 or 4 weeks too. I have understood that if I only respond discussions for earning money or knowledge my earning is not increase until I choose best response. So it is not wise to keep discussions lying for long time.

Absolutely correct we have to choose a best response the sooner we see the best answer that we are looking for and not to wait that long.

I usually allow for a few days at least. I don't do them the same day or within hours cause I don't think that is fair to everyone else. You have to give people a chance. But like you said sometimes there is a exceptional reply that you want to acknowledge right away.

I really like your new avatar coolcatzz it's cute! We really have to allot time to mark best response so some myLot members have the time to contribute and share thier sensible answers.

I usually do it within about two days, since the tide of responses usually slows down or stops within that time. And I find that if I don't do it by then, I tend to forget and let it slip my mind, as well. I know that we have a page just to show us what our 'unresolved discussions' are, but I still tend to let things slip out of my mind if I let them go too long. I think that you waiting two weeks is great, though! I wish that I could do that, but I'd probably never get anything done that way, personally! ^_^

Sometimes it really varies when a discussion is flooded with responses then you can easily determine the best response but if it is not I really have to wait for a certain period and decide the best response.

I check the discussions that I haven't selected a best response for every other day or so. If any haven't had a reply for 24 hours then I will find the best response.

Checking our unresolve discussions keep us really reminded that there are still some discussions that are subject to mark as best response. Thanks michelledarcy.

I normally leave it a week and alwasy make sure that a Weekend is between that to as not every Member has a chance to come on here every Day or even during the Week so I leave that time Frame.

Hey ,usually i get very less response, n now that to few of my friends like u i am getting a few responses, i jus wait till i get enough/any response at first place, he he.... Then i check out if its good or answers my query or discussion. I jus go by insticits if i like a reply i ll mark it, but generally i will wait till 1-2 weeks , to mark ,exception when i like the response so much that i feel i shud give it a best response straight away. Thanks.

When I go past the second page of unresolved discussions is when I start handing out best responses. It clears up my pages and helps me keep things neat and tidy. I would say about two weeks is the max for me for any one discussion.

i usually wait until i get a response that makes me say 'oh, yeah !' or that answers my question completely. i love seeing a resonse that is not too short or too long and has excellent quality. thats what i look for in a best response.

As a newbie, I notice the 'Best respone' option but not really sure what it actually does. Will the best respone affect the responder's rating or something? Thanks for the info. I only started 3 discussions and received a few respones, I think 2 weeks is a fare period,
