I want to get two small dogs that will ultimately weigh no more than 25 pounds each when fully grown. I'm moving into a new apartment, but it is not close to a major intersection and I will have plenty of places to walk them. One of the dogs will be a Chiuhiua (not sure of the spelling). Is there another breed you would suggest? I am open to the pound as I have found wonderful pets there. But they have to be small.

I own a chihuhua, and she is about 10 years old, so I think that is a good choice. So did you ever get a small dog? Since I noticed you posted this discussion 5 months ago.

Yes, I got a Chihuahua and a dog that is 7/8 Chihuahua and 1/8 Corgi. They are both adorable. Sherlock is the mix and he is still tiny after four months. Leon is full blood and is a good size, but still considered small for dogs in general.

I had a shih-tzu for ten years and I loved him. They don't get very big. Mine weighed in at 15lbs and he was considered on the large size for a shih-tzu. Both of his parents though were only 7lbs each. Mine wasn't fat at all just bigger then most. He was great though with my neice when she was a baby. He got along well with cats and other dogs. So that's what I'd recommend for a small dog.
