I believe it is because when love is present, so is power -power to make people happy or sad. The fact is that when something happens to a stranger or someone we do not know so well, the bonding is not so strong so the impact on us is not as great. However if something happens to someone we love the strong feelings we have for the person will result in greater reactions from us and affect us more deeply. It is in the connection - how strong it is.

this is what love is..... we hurt the ones we love the most because we feel we have that much right over them....and vice versa...we feel they will understand us. and we know he will bear everything and still come back to us....thats why we treat our next door neighbours with that delicacy coz we know they wont bear if we even utter them harsh words .... pain is a part and parcel of love

BECAUSE--- When you let that someone love you, you give them the right to hurt you... AND When you love someone, he or she gave you the right to hurt them. Why?..... well, basically when there is no permission or rights given.... I don't think there is love at all.

Because for them we are willing to make the greatest "emotional investment" of our essential self. Think of it as "strings." The more you love someone, the thinner then string you are willing to hang from, for them. The thinner the string, the more chance it will break in some way, resulting in pain and suffering. Yet, if we are not willing to hang from the thinnest of strings, we miss out on the most beautiful connections in life.

I think you have a good point as thin strings are like valuable silk which hold together much
