Packing lunch?

In order to save money, I bring my lunch to work as opften as possible. The problem is that sometimes I get into a funk and can't think of food to bring. Sometimes, I don't want the leftovers that I have from the night before. Do you bring a packed lunch to work? If so, what sorts of food do you like to bring? What do you do to keep your lunches interesting?

I know what you mean. I want to take lunch ot work as much as possible but I'm running out of ideas. I try to take lot's of fruit! Nature's Candy! LOL! Sandwiches do get old so try to buy different kinds of bread to make subs etc. I also take some warm soup in a thermous with crakers and some bread. My co-works and I recently decided to do pot luck lunches!

One way to do it is to freeze your leftovers so you can keep them for another day when you won't be tired of it. Then, just take out a different previously frozen meal for lunch. Another idea is to make something new with your leftovers. For example, make a fried rice dish with your leftover rice or a baked noodle dish with your leftover speghetti. You could also try to trade lunches with a co-worker. Have him/her make a lunch for you, and you for him/her. That could be a nice way to mix it up. Finally, sometimes it's fun to feature specialty food in your lunches. You could go to a specialty store (like an asian market or gourmet deli) and get a small amount of something that you would not ordinarily eat. Me, I like to get cans of lychees or a few slices of thinly cut procuitto for my lunch only. That way, the food I pack for lunch is always at least a little different and special than my leftovers from the night before. I also recommend bento boxes for variety and good presentation, but maybe you already know that. ;)

I love the idea of adding things from a specialty store. I also like the idea of just getting a little bit so that I'm not sick of it by the time I've finished what I bought. Brilliant! ^_^ I also like the idea of swapping with a co-worker. The problem is that I'm the only one who seems to bring her lunch on a regular basis.

I do a variety of things. Sometimes I pack left overs. Sometimes I do things to make the left overs more interesting or different. Other nights I make really pretty salads - adding lots of veggies, seeds, etc to make it interesting. The key is to prepare something interesting the night before - so it's ready when you are ready to run out the door.

I eat a lot of the same things in my lunches. For many days in a row I'll have PB & J sandwich, baby carrots, and an orange. Every once in a while I'll throw in leftovers from the night before. I've also made bean burritos or several veggie burgers to eat throughout the week.

I also bring lunches to work because it saves a lot of money and time to line up (at the cafeteria). I usually bring the food I like to eat -- sandwiches and soup. I don't get tired of these, so I make my own chicken sandwich, or egg, or other meat filling during the weekends so that I could have a variety of fillings for my sandwich. As for the soup, I either bring canned ones or cup noodles. Sometimes, I would bring salad and/or fruit, but only when I felt like it. I don't bring left-over food from the night before because I find it boring -- haha.
