I am at my wits end to keep my sister from eating!! She is way Obese for 5 2" stature, weighing 226 lbs!! She has a highly dangerous eating habit. Looking at her eat so many times a day I feel I will fall sick! After I tried to stop her from eating while I was around, now she has been creeping to the refrigerator after all of us sleep!! It is almost an impossible mission! She is terribly upset but she cannot help her cravings! Say, does anybody by any chance know any pills that could cut down on her 'false appetite' ?? Anybody knows a way outta this?

Instead of being so angry with your sister why don't you actually try to help her. For instance if she is living in your house then only have healthy foods around. She can't eat twinkies at 2am if there aren't any. Also I will tell that it has been proven over and over that being cruel and hurtful and telling someone how fat they are does not help but actually hurts the situation. I would say she needs to seek help herself she is the only one who can change her life, you can't do it for her. Just try to be supportive and love her. If you can't then you should move or she should because all you are doing is being toxic towards each other.

I agree with ScrappinHappyMom just have lots of healthy foods in the house; trust me it WILL work I have 5 kids under 9 yrs old and they All love junk food, so lately I have been buying lots of fruit and veggies, and if they are hungry enough they WILL eat the good food because there is no junk food in the house. Good luck with your sister.

I have never teased her on her weight the only time I ever told her anything was when I was totally fed up, I said if you are gonna eat one more of that you are gonna die! Plus she doesnt care if anybody teases her...because for her eating is like heaven! I just ask her to stop eating, its more like constantly checkin on her food habits. I always remind her to drink more water when she is hungry. But lately I have been locking up the refrigerator before I go to bed and that gets her soo mad!! :))

I too am in the same boat as your sister. My eating is out of control and I am 5'2" and weigh 235. I eat for many reasons. I also sneek foods when everyone is asleep. Is your sister depressed? She may use food to stuff her feelings. Please don't have her use diet pills you can have a stroke using them. Unfortunately, some depression medications cause weight gain which is extremely depressing.I too am ashamed that I am Obese. My 9 year old daughter is ashamed of me:(

sorry to know about that. I am at times ashamed of my sister, she looks so bloated up! YEs, she is depressed and the tabs gain her some wieght plus she eats to get off her depression! I have had enough of her eating and have even started locking up the refrigerator! But its funny to see her get angry when I do that! :))

If she really wants to lose weight then she has to do it herself. Diet pills dont work. She needs to learn to control her food intake. It takes a lot of will power but that's what she has to do if she wants to lose the weight! I've been overweight almost all of my life and have finally realized what I need to do to change it. Ive lost 17 lbs since January 1st and dont plan on stopping until Im at my goal weight!

You are right. She has to take the initiative, but she is so ever carefree and lazy it ultimately falls on me to check on her. She has tried several times to control herself but when she noticed no results she thought it was futile to carry on anymore. I know tis hard but wish I could get her zeal back into sheddding weight! But still I wished there was some kinda pill!! Thanks for your response!

it's a sickness, she may be able to find meetings in the area for overeaters anyomous, which is almost like AA but it's for overeaters, and trust me she is not not that bad because i am 5 3 and way much more that what she does. it's not fun being this heavy, i do not think there is an easy fix. i am a stress eater and also i eat when i am bored. so i try to keep busy and i am trying to find new ways to deal with my stress.

There's really not much you can say or do to help your sister. She has to be the one to make the decision for herself. Maybe you can help her finding a healthier selection of foods. Maybe you can find something you can both do together. Somewhere away from food.

My sister-in-law is close to 300 lbs. She eats constantly and doesn't exercise. She was diagnosed with diabetes but that does not stop her. I have suggested that she go for help, but she won't do it. I think she is killing herself. Has your sister gone for any counseling. They say eating like that means that you have some underlying problems. Has she considered any kind of gastric bypass stomach surgery. I think this is the only thing that will help my sister-in-law. I hope she gets it done.
