How many of you remember Richard Dean Anderson before he was on Stargate as General O'Neil? Don't get me wrong, I love him in the part but he has done many roles before then. I've enjoyed him in many of the shows he did. I loved him as MacGyver. That was a great role and a great show as well. I also liked him though in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a very short run musical show that he played the lead on. He was good on General Hospital too for that matter. So do you like Richard Dean Anderson and if so which role or roles did you like him best in? IMDB link for Richard Dean Anderson: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000760/

I used to love MacGuyver. It was so creative and fun. I had such a big crush on Richard Dean Anderson.

I also had a crush on Richard Dean Anderson! Have youall read my discussion about him? The title of it is "Cross Country Bike Ride". My mother and I used to watch "MacGyver" together all the time. She's passed away now.

I loved Macguyver. I wanted to *be* Macguyver. The man could do anything. I never, ever missed an episode of that show. I watched with eager anticipation to see what he would do next, how he'd get himself out of Dangerous Situation Of The Week. And I still remember all the bizarre things he made, and how he once used a fish as a saw. At some point I want to get it on DVD - I keep seeing it and thinking 'that'd be a great show to have!'. I didn't watch him in much else, honestly, aside from SG-1, but he will always be Macguyver to me.

Heheh yeah he came up with some neat stuff. I wouldn't want to get on his bad side that was for sure. Never know what he might come up with. I'd like the series as well but a bit out of my price range at the moment. I do like him on SG1 as well.

Hi! Oh, my sister and I were so in love with Richard Dean Anderson when he was on General Hospital! Wow, that was a long time ago, before Rick Springfield and John Stamos. Gee, I'm old! LOL :-)

Yep as Jackie, a character who could be a real B*tch but she was great. That was a long time ago. The time does fly doesn't it.

Hehe I know the feeling. Rick Springfield was back on there again. Amazing how that happens. A lot of stars got their starts on GH besides him. He was good though. I loved GH back then.

I remember when he was on General Hospital and left the show to do Seven Brides, which was then cancelled but he went on to MacGyver. It was interesting that instead of just replacing the character with another actor as so many soaps do, that instead they had him move away. And he is basically a forgotten character of the show despite his popularity and central focus he had at that time.

Yeah they did that with a few characters but not many, they usually recast which sometimes works sometimes doesn't. I think he did great with MacGyver but he lucked out with it. I'm sure though if it hadn't and he had wanted to go back to GH it would have been possible.

I know what you mean about the show O'Neill compared to the movie one. I could not picture him in the role. I thought of how Kurt Russell did the role and it just didn't fit with Richard Dean Anderson. After watching it though I can see how good he is in the part. He did a fantastic job.

I don't doubt they would have welcomed him back they did try to bring the character back very very briefly but it just wasn't the same, I think they were hoping that by the gap in time from Richard Dean Anderson leaving and the time they recast the role people would be ok with the new actor but there was no spark. I wasn't sure how I was going to react to the Stargate series having been a fan of the movie. I like both versions of Jack O'Neill, I think that having the sense of humor he had for the character kept it from being to much, when the character himself pokes fun of himself it gives some leveling to the character and the story lines.

I must have had a sheltered TV life-I'd never seen MacGyver until I'd seen RDA in Stargate SG-1! A friend who'd previously loaned me SG-1 dvd's to catch up then loaned Me Mac's season 1 -was funny to see RDA's reaction to Sam Carter saying something about having "MacGyvered" the DHD computer at Stargate Command!

I bet you didn't understand until after watching it. He's a great actor and I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen him in. I missed many of the early shows of SG-1 but I'm trying to catch up on them at times. I love how he reprised the role of MacGyver for the Mastercard commercial. I lost it when I saw that.

Despite never having seen him before SG-1,I knew the gist of the MacGyver story about the guy able to improvise his way out of a sticky situation using only the penknife-so I got the joke, but it made things clearer having seen the Mac DVD's..

Yeah... I miss watching the MacGyver series. It was really awesome! Correct me if I'm wrong, but Anderson also composed the MacGyver theme song.

Well according to the imdb.com he didn't compose the music for it but that's all I have to go by. I haven't heard either way on it.

I've always LOVED Richard Dean Anderson and would still watch anything he appeared in. My favorite show was definitely MacGyver...I always hated to have to miss it when it was on. Every now and then I'll catch a re-run on some off channel. To me, he's absolutely gorgeous and always was.

I loved him as MacGuyver. He always thought of new and interesting ways to save the day. Have you seen his credit card commercials? They are totally MacGuyver and how he bought all his supplies with the credit card. My mom was smitten with him when he was on her soap opera General Hospital. I wonder why he left and if he would consider coming back. Rick Springfield just came back looking as cute as ever, so Richard could too! Elizabeth needs more family than just her Grandmother.

I love the credit card commerical. I thought that was great he did it. I believe he left GH to do Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I think it would be neat if he did a guest appearence if nothing else. That would be awesome to see. Might bring in other fans to the show if they like him from elsewhere.

Richard Dean Anderson with his Daughter Wylie - Richard met Apryl Prose, and together they celebrated the birth of their first child, a daughter, on August 2, 1998.

Wylie Quinn Annarose Anderson entered the world at 7 lbs. 11 oz.
Richard talks with great enthusiasm about his new adventure of fatherhood, and takes great pride in his reputation as a doting dad
Richard Dean Anderson has appeared in the pilots of six different series: 'Seven Brides for Seven brothers,' 'Emerald Point N.A.S.,' 'MacGyver,' 'Legend,' 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate: Atlantis.' The latter is the only one on which he was not a regular. Along with Michael Shanks, he is one of only two actors to appear in the pilots of both Stargate SG-1, and the spin-off series Stargate: Atlantis. I loved him best as MacGyver which was First telecast: September 29, 1985 and Last telecast: August 8, 1992. In the last regular episode, MacGyver discovered the son he never knew he had -- a young man named Sean Sam Malloy (Dalton James) -- and the two got on their motorcycles and rode off into the sunset to bond.... Richard plays the guitar, and has even tried his hand at composing, including the original piece, Eau d'Leo, which was used in the series MacGyver. I didnt like him in the western type series Legend. Filming will start 15th April 2007 for his new project. Stargate: Continuum More info on Richard, http://rdanderson.com/

It is S.A.M that he went by. The middle name was Angus after MacGyver because his mother loved the name Angus. Sean was the first name. Sometimes info on the net is not always right, that is a problem sometimes with fan sites.

I believe young MacGyver's name was Sean Angus Malloy and he went by his initials, SAM. It was the Angus, being MacGyver's unused and much hated first name, that finally convinced MacGyver that the boy was his son.

Richard Dean Anderson - Richard Dean Anderson starred in the TVShow McGyver 1994 as Angus McGyver.
I like Richard Dean Anderson on McGyver as Angus McGyver. He really is so cute on that show. My sister loves him so much.. and I liked his role in making ado with what he have to get out of trouble. Very cool

I do enjoy Stargate SG1, however Richard Dean Anderson will forever be MacGyver to me. It was his defining role I think. I heard a rumour once that Anderson was interested in doing a MacGyver movie, anyone know about that?

Hehe..at one time I had lovely dreams about Richard Dean Anderson when he was on MacGyver and watched that show religiously, I even taped many of the episodes...I really haven't seen him in anything else but did see a few episodes of Stargate which I just never warmed up to...I thought the movie was so much better and the way Anderson was in it well....he just doesn't seem to have the pizazz he had as MacGyver..

Well I didn't get into Stargate until it was on Sci-Fi Channel and near the end of him being on there full time. I loved him on MacGyver. One of my favorite shows back then actually. His character was very good and I enjoyed watching to see what he'd come up with next.

Yea MacGyver is one of my all time favorite shows! I used to have a lot of scrap book material of him (newspaper interviews, etc.), but I don't know what happened to it all, lol. Star Gate is another one of my favorites ... I just remembered, one of the articles I used to have did mention that he was in a rock band when he was younger, before he became an actor.

OH cool, that's good to know that he will be doing one of them. Yeah I knew he had his own band at one time. The one series he did "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" was a musical and he did sing in it. The series was short lived but he was good in it.

Are you kidding me? MacGyver was one of my favorite shows so I do like this actor. That show was really cool and techy at those times. His solutions to problems in each episode was just so creative and good-thinking. It really entertained me a lot when I was young. I hope I could see it re-aired on the local channel. I haven't seen his other show or movies though so I can't really tell much of his acting career. Basically in MacGyver there is not much drama to see how good an actor does. Anyways he is good and fit for that role. So two thumbs up for this guy!

I loved Richard as Macgyver also. But it is so funny now looking back at the show and seeing reruns when they had them on a certain cable station, how corney some of the episodes were. The show was great in the begining when he did a lot of amazing things and then as the years went by, I lost my interest do to the lack of creativity on Macgyvers part. I watched stargate once or twice, although I loved richard I cannot get into shows like that. So Magyver all the way!

Amazing isn't how we can watch something and see it differently now then we saw it when we were younger. They did have a year or two were it was slower but I think they got the writers back or something because then it picked up again.

Everytime I see him on Stargate, which by the way I'm watching right now, I think of MacGyver. That was the best. There was actualy an outtake on one of the Stargate DVD's when Samantha and him were trapped and she told him to do some McGyver stuff.
