Jake Owen's song "Starting with Me" is the story of a man who looks back on his past and wishes many things were different, starting with himself. I appreciate this song because there are things I wish I could have changed about the former me. Do you feel this way, or do you believe in the new addage of "don't regret"?

Never regret, just seek to do better in the future and always remember that if your life is in any way not the way you would like it to be, then change it, and always start with yourself.

I believe in the addage of "don't regret" but You can't live life and not have regrets. I believe everyday that I try my hardest to live life to the fullest. I heard a saying that in 20 years you will more regret the things you didn't do than the things you did, and I think that very much rings true. You will regret the times you set out and didn't take advantage of an opportunity more so than the times you took an opportunity and it turned out less than desireable. I try my best to do whats right, but I take advantage of everything out there. I like to at the end of the day be able to look back and know I did my best to not have any regrets about the day and not hold back from anything I want to do in life. But always after the fact whether it takes days, weeks, months or years you look back and see things you would have changed. You see things that you now feel differently about and you see ways that you would have done things different. But wisdom comes not only with time but with experience, and if you had missed out on the experience you wouldn't be regretting it, so go live life do what feels right. Take a little extra time to think about things, but take advantage of opportunities. Carpe Diem!

I agree with you about the message of the song about the man looking back and wishing that he would have done alot of things different. I feel the exact same way that you do because there are things that i wish i could back and change but I think that we all do what we do for a purpose...I think that Jake owen puts it all in prospective with that song starting with me because it's true just about every word..we all do things and then look back later and wish that we would have done alot of things different than what we did.
