Well the first inexpensive gift idea that springs to mind is some knitted item that you could make yourself, but if you can't knit thats not very helpful! What about a baby album? Something that the parents can add their own photos and lock of hair etc. They are usually pretty cheap and inexpensive but a lovely keepsake for years to come! Hope that helps!

I just had a baby three months ago and I can tell you the most appreciated thing we got was DIAPERS!!! Sizes 2 and 3 are the best ones to give as gifts because babies stay in those sizes the longest. If you want something even cheaper... just go for the wipes!

Parents get all kinds of baby stuff!! I suggest you buy a 5 or 10 dollar gift card to a local coffeeshop, so that Mom can take a break for a while!! I think that's the best gift of all.

i think Keep Sake Box i the only thing which will be so precious for that baby when he/she will grow up. i turned one show box into keep sake box by putting felt paper and make some useful changes to keep my baby's thing saved. and i really tuned out great. i also made crib organizer with her old clothes, mittens and socks... it turned out just amazing and everybody asked me for that piece of work.

Whatever you decide upon buying should be bought on eBay because it is so cheap. I am sure you could even get some ideas on eBay anyway.
