I'm in that time of the month again, and I always get these terrible pains and this time I'm getting horrible cramps to. Sometimes I just feel like screaming, I'm not kidding. I've even heard the menstrual pains can cause people to enter deep depression and even suicide. I already took a pill for female problems but I was wondering how you get the pain to soften or go away. Any help is appreciated! Sometimes it helps me to try weird positions but sometimes it doesn't compensate as you end up with cramps due to the position or it's just to tiring. Sometimes I put my hand in cold water and place it on my stomach it helps a bit but I've heard it's bad for me. Sometimes tickling my stomach slightly helps but not always. PLEASE help me out on this!

I used to be like that and was in agony for ten or more days a month and every month seemed to get worse and worse. I switched from pill to pill, tried the patch and all sorts of things which were supposed to help but nothing did . . until I went on the depo provera contraceptive injection which has stopped my periods completely. I know its a side effect not many women want, especially if they are considering a family in the not too distant future and there are other side effects like a slight increase in weight/increase in appetite (never happened to me though) but not to have to go through that pain every months is heaven and im saving a fortune on women's *things* too.

Have you tried a heating pad or a hot pack? You might also want to try a nice warm bath. I feel bad for you.

I find heat makes it worse in my case, freezing cold seems to help sometimes, sometimes I pass my hands in cold water and then on my stomach but I'm told it's bad for me!

Believe me! I have been there! I used to take Naproxen but it stopped working. I always used hot bean bags but my massage therapist told me that our first instinct is to curl up in the fetal position, but the best thing is stretching and exercise. I ended out going on the depoprevera shot which eliminated my periods. I was on that for two years. After two years you have to be tested for osteoporosis. Although I passed that test, I opted not to go back on the depo shot. So I faced pain again. I have tried herbal remedies specifically for PMS, which helped some. I have also rubbed peppermint oil on my abdomen. It can be very strong so if you try that you might want to add a little cooking oil so it is not so strong. Another remedy is to soak an old cloth in castor oil. Then wrap it in plastic wrap so that you don't get it on your clothes and everywhere else, and put it on your abdomen. Then place a heating pad on top of that. I have heard this remedy from several sources but have never actually tried it. Right now I am using Yam cream. Actually what I have is a gel. It was recommended by a friend who swore it helped get it her through menopause. I put a dollop on the end of my finger and rub it in a fatty place (inner thigh, stomach, abdomen, upper arm) once a day that you are NOT on your period. I have only had one period since doing it and I think it helped. However, I don't think of something as working after only one time. If I can go 6 months on this stuff and not have bad cramps, then I will be singing it from the rooftops - just like my friend is. You might want to try and get some of that from a health food store but I see you can get it online as well. I really do know how you feel. I was on vacation at my in-laws and my husband had gone to visit a friend. I was crying and my mother-in-law wanted to take me to the hospital because it was so bad. I just wanted the pain to go away and my husband to get back. At that time I had been given percocet but that only worked once for me. I hope one of these remedies works for you. Good luck.
