What do you think when you see someone who is pierced? Does it matter if the jewelry is small and tastful or huge and scary? Do you think the same of all people who are pierced? The reason for the question is I have four piercings and I wonder what people think when they look at me. By the way my piercings are:eyebrow nose tongue labret (under lip)

I don't mind them at all, but not too many everwhere, my grandaughter has got some, tongue, ears, bellybutton. Funny thing about the tongue piercing I noticed it months before her parents found out and that was only because she was sucking on it without thinking and her mum asked her what have you got in your mouth and she knew it was time to confess. She then went with her daughter and got a bellybutton piercing which she loves. I'm turning 60 soon and for my 50th birthday got a tattoo so now wondering what to do to mark the 60th.

I don't mind piercings as long as it's not excessive. I would pierce my tongue in a heart beat but my hubby doesn't want me to. I think they're sexy on women. I respect it though because I am on his arm and everything :)

It is nice that you respect your husband's wishes. My husband was okay with the first three but he didn't want me to get my nose pierced, he thought it would be too much. I did it anyway and he loves it!

I try to in hopes he would respect mine as well. I really believe and try to adhere to treating others as you want to be treated. I think he'd like the tongue ring too but he's a little more into what other people may think then I am. He's not real bad - but thats one thing that might bother him. Men.

I personally do not think any differently of a person wearing a visible piercing(s). But that is only because I have met many people who have them that are as nice as can be. I have also met very mean, rude people with piercings, just as I have encounted the same with people that do not have piercings. It is kind of funny when you see a guy with a menacing piercing approach a guy sitting on the ground looking hungry and offer to buy him food- the expression on the persons face! I know that it's viewed as less professional but I don't think it is right to consider that when looking for a professional person. I had my tongue pierced and the only reason I let it grow shut was because I lost yet ANOTHER ring and didn't want to buy a new one. I had to deal with a lot of criticism and once even got fired because I didn't take it out SOON enough before work. I was getting ready for work and someone saw me take it out and when I was washing my hands my supervisor stormed over to me and started screaming in front of everyone to get out! One thing to take into consideration- many people with piercings are VERY clean. They almost have to be to prevent infections! In other countries piercings are viewed as status. I don't understand why in the US everyone is sooo closed-minded about everything that they don't think is NORMAL.

*************************HONARARY BEST RESPONSE*************************************************** I love your view on this! You are right that you have to be very clean to have piercings, the place I get mine done at requires you to clean them 5-6 times a day for 6 months! I wish that you had responded sooneer, I would've given you best response. The best I can do is give you honorary best response. I do still love the response I picked as best but I love yours too! *************************HONARARY BEST RESPONSE***************************************************

I hate to say this but looking at people with piercings anywhere other than their ears makes me gag, i hate it, i just think it's grose and if a person were meant to have holes there, they would already have them, the ears are forgivable... but the rest, eew, grose, nasty, not for me, and i would prefer to look at a cows rear than to look at someone that has their face full of holes. Sorry this isn't meant to offend anyone, it's just how i FEEL

No offense taken at all SpitFire! That is what this discussion is here for... to voice your opinon. You don't have to agree with me! Thanks for being brave enough to go against the popular opinon. I respect it even if I don't agree with you.

I quite like piercing and think they can look fantastic. I have had no luck with them and have had all of them go badly infected. My piercer frined says I hsould give up on them. I'm the kind of person who gets apaper cut and it gets infected. I think sometimes though piercings can go against you, especially in things like job interviews, etc.

Sometimes I find people with a LOT of piercings a little overwhelming but on the whole I don't make any judgements based on the fact that someone has piercings! To each their own and I know a lot of wonderful people who have piercings - so go with what you like for yourself and if anyone has a problem with your piercings then it is exactly that - THEIR problem xxx

Girls with piercings are different and glamorous. Whereas boys with earrings or anything like that are an eye sore. I've never liked any men with piercings. They look arrogant and empty displaying such oddities.

I'm fickle about piercings... I've had my tounge pierced, my labret, my nose, ears, and my lip... I always wear the piercing for awhile and then take it out after I feel I've 'outgrown' it. I still have a small hoop in my nose, my earrings, and a hole in my tounge that won't close, so sometimes I'll put a bar in there. My tounge was my first piercing at 18... it's seven years later and it's not going anywhere! I personally love piercings and tattoos, although I have preferences... too many scary, evil looking tat's are a bit much...

my girlfriend wanted to get a nose piercing a while back, and while she only wanted to get one of those small piercings i was still against it. For some reason i think that those little nose rings look like a booger on a person's nose. I think that the female body is perfect as it is and doesn't need any ornaments to make it more beautiful or anything like that. People are beautiful the way they are.

I love to see people with piercings. I love the way it looks, I like the small jewelry, but I also like the big scary stuff too! I have much respect for these people, I guess because I like getting pierced. I have a few in my ears, one in my nostril, and one in my tongue.
