For the last few days she has been complaining about a pain in her back. It got really bad last night that i wanted to take her to the hospital but she fell asleep in my bed and i left her there i figured if it got worse she would wake up and off we would go. When she woke up this morning and stood up it started all over again. I made and appt with our DR and she wanted her to have an ultrasound. She thinks it could be 1 of three things kidney stones, appendix, or ovarian cysts she has battled with cysts for a few years now but she says its a different pain this time. So i take her to the clinic here and they won't do the ultrasound she doesn't have a appt. So i ask when can she get one MONDAY MORN i couldn't believe it. The tech said it was because she needed the prep this includes drinking water and not eating. She has not eating since yesterday morn as for water that's about all i have been giving her because I thought it was kidney stones too. But nope nothing i asked for an emergency appt, they wouldn't budge. My choice is to go to the er or wait till Monday. Its my daughters 17th bday tomorrow i feel so bad for her i have a feeling the day will be spent at the hospital. Anyway i called the DR when we got back and she said to watch her for the night if it gets worse or she gets a fever call the ambulance and get her to the hospital. She wants us to call back in the morn and we will see what we can do from there. I am feeling angry worried and so many more emotions. I don't see why they could not fit her in as an emergency patient. The hospital is about 45 mins from here and my husband has the car at work. Am i right to feel so angry is this just another great example of the health care system right now??

I would have gone straight to the ER as well. I hope your daughter is okay. I was having major back pain on the left side of my back on and off being told by Doctors that it was a UTI and take these meds and the infection will go away (the pain would go away for a week or two then come back and no infeciton would be found). Finally a doctor sent me for an ultrasound thinking it was kideny stones. Come to find out I had been born with a defect that took 24 years to present. The worst part was that I had to wait almost 6 months before I could get into surgery because only a specialist could preform the task.

I would have just taken her into the ER in the first place, at least if she was in the hospital they could do some urine tests, start a cathider if needed, and give her something for the pain. I think she probably has kidney stones too. I had my appendix out, and the pain was in the front not in my back, as well, i had a fever and couldnt eat or drink aynthing without vommitting. That was a not a fun time. But they say that kidney stones is one of the worst pains, i hope your daughter is ok, and please update up as to what happens :)
