Does you cat sleep in just one place, or lots of different places?

Our cat seems to have loads of different places that she likes to fall alseep around the house. Downstairs she likes to sleep on either of the sofas. Upstairs she likes to sleep on the landing (very strange if you ask me) which is a bit annoying as we have to be careful not to trip over her, on our bed, if she gets the chance, and on a chair in the spare bedroom where we have our computers. Also sometimes she sleeps on peoples knees too! Why does she have so many places to sleep, why doesn't she just stick to one? And what about your cat(s) where does he/she/they sleep around your house? Just one place or several?

My 4 cats change their sleeping places all the time.one week they may sleep on their cat beds, the next on the floor in front of a radiator. One at the moment has chosen the top of the fridge freezer which I'm trying to stop but she sneaks up there at night.

I would say that my cats have their own favorite places to sleep in. My Columbus, for example, always sleeps on the sunporch radiator, right next to the windows. I would rather that he didn't, however, because there's a little draft and he seems to be right in it. But there's no telling for cat's preferences, anyway, lol. And my Waffles enjoys napping on the bed, for the most part, especially in the afternoon. It's quiet and comfy, just the way she likes it!

My cat is the same. I think he has certian ways of picking where he will sleep. In the winter, he sleeps on the floor of the front bedroom, in the sun; if it is cloudy, he goes downstairs to the papasan chair which is noce and cozy. If we are home he stays on the couch (near the kitchen). When it is hot he usually stays lower to the floor, where it is cooler, so he will sleep under chairs or in front of the A/C registar.

we have 4 cats and they all sleep in numerous places! sometimes they will sleep on our dining room table (we dont really use it) or on their cat tree, or on the couch.. we also have a little cat heating pad, which they sometimes sleep on. one of our cats likes to sleep in my sons play pin.. they have so many places its almost impossible to list them all off of the top of my head! im not really sure why they dont just pick one spot and stick to it though.

My cats usually sleep anywhere they seem to be relaxed and cozy for a long sleep. Sometimes they cuddle with eath other and sleep most of the time. They also sleep on the couch and other soft surfaces. I created them a big bed for them to fit in and it worked wonders for them sleeping in different places. They liked their new bed and they sleep there everyday now. At least I don't have to worry about stepping on my cat(s) when I'm walking around the house.

i had a cat that slept in the weirdess palces---the edge of the toilet, on the bathtub ledge, bookshelves...we no longer have him... he was a huge cat 16 lbs and we had him fixed right away... we had him since he was a baby... but when he would meow, you'd expect a deep meow... but it was a tiny squeeky little meow...like a small cry for taking away his manhood----god i loved that cat

We have 3 cats and they all have their own little domains. But when the sun is out they will follow the sun around the house all day then go back to their little spots. And sometimes they will switch places with each other. Its so funny.

Loads of places. Our beds, her basket, on top of the couch, several closets and we even found her in our daughter's doll's house.

MY cats have one primary place where they like to sleep, but also quite a few other ones that they would choose at different times. Fluffy used to sleep on my daughter's room. There is a small window seat close to my daughter's bed and she sleeps there most of the time. Bow that my daughter is away, she has been sleeping in other places including the bathroom sink LOL I find her there some mornings. Bailey usually sleeps with my son. It is cute because my soon sleeps on a bunk bed and there is a small shelf on the wall way up there and Bailey kept shoving some books that were there to sleep in there. Finally we gave up and made space for him on the shelf. But he also is found sleeping on the stairs, which as you say is a bit annoying because if we're not paying attention we might step on him or trip over him.

I actually have FOUR cats, and they each seem to have their very distinctive habits-- often tied to "where the people are." It's also important whether or not there's a "sunny spot" somewhere-- these are particularly popular, and sought after with much competitive fire. A couple of the cats just don't like "anything different" so they tend to stick to the same places, much of the time. You can usually find Shadoe on a box behind the portable heater next to a downstairs window; Brady is almost always on the fuzzy throw at the end of the bed. The other two are pretty much all over the place-- sometimes in awkward places that the landing of the stairs, or across the door opening to one of the bathrooms. The top of the dryer is another popular spot-- even when it is running and noisy. Warmth, you know, is EVERYthing....!

Cats, by nature, sleep a lot during the day, their total sleep time increasing as they age. Daily durations of sleep vary, usually 12-16 hours, with 13-14 being the average. Some cats can sleep up to 20 hours in a 24 hour period. Depending upon the age and the metabolism of the cat, the animal will choose his or her napping place with a certain degree of finickiness. Most cats prefer stiffer surfaces, and as long as it is a fairly comfortable area, the animal won't hesitate to just lay down a take a nap when he or she becomes tired. Vets suggest, if the large number of places your cat sleeps bothers you, to create a special place for the animal using a cat bed or something similar and rewarding the cat when he or she sleeps there. If you find the cat asleep somewhere other than the bed, then pick the cat up and move the cat to his or her bed. This takes time, but if you are diligent in it, you can train the cat to only sleep there. Personally, I don't mind that I never know where my cat could be sleeping.

We have three cats and I would say they sleep in several places. There are some favorite spots, but it kind of depends what is going on too. During the day they have some hiding places that I'm not even sure about. Thanks for asking.

I had two cats my little girl Lacy passed away a few months ago at age 15, my big boy Jordan is 17yrs. Both of them have favorite places to sleep depending on the time of day. Mornings I would find Lacy on the chair under the kitchen window watching the birds and Jordan on the back of the couch in the den snoozing in the sun. Lacy would nap after lunch on a pizza pan stored under the kitchen counter (she liked sleeping in dark quiet places). Jordan on the other hand other than his morning sunbath, will sleep in what ever room I'm in. He is glued to my hip I think. Sometimes drives me nuts LOL. If I stand up he is right at my feet ready to follow me, if I'm in the shower he is either sitting on the toilet seat waiting or screaming at the door to get in if I lock him out. At night both of them are in my room someplace, depending on MY mood. If I allow it they sandwich me, one on each side snuggled up as tight to me as they can get. If I don't want to be clung to, Lacy takes the left corner of my king size bed and Jordan the right. If I'm not happy with one of them for whatever reason, Lacy sleeps under the bed and Jordan on the windowsill.

we've got 2 cats, and most of the time they sleep under our bed or on top, then sometimes they sleep in the closet, mind you they are very smart they know how to open my closet, they swing in the handle and Voila!, the closet opens. or they sleep in the lounge, under the laounge, in the laundry sink, especially when hot. and at night time, they sleep with us.

My cat love's to sleep in the lap of anyone : ) He's just a sleepyhead, the times he is not eating, he is sleeping. I believe that he try to sleep in anywhere that is warm. Sometimes he just stand in front of the fireplace and stays there all night.
