I avoid buying clothes. For starters, dressing rooms are depressing! At least when you are making your own clothes, you can start big and feel better when you have to bring it in a little. I like being able to have something that actually fits. It's hard when you're too short, tall, fat, or skinny to fit the off-the-rack mold. I've made a good many shirts, a skirt, and I'm working on a dress right now (not going to lie, I'm a little stumped at the moment on a step). I bought a book on pattern drafting, but I haven't had the motivation to sit down and study it.

I usually take my grandchildrens clothes that are too stained up and rip the seams and make them that way and ajust the size to fit them

I can sew on buttons and sew on patches. I think you need a good sewing machine to be able to sew clothes. I would rather buy them.

I would love to sew my own clothes! i recently decided that as soon as i can afford to buy a sewing machine, or i have the space for one, that i am going to take up quilting! I know its a little easier then sewing clothes, but its still sewing right?! i once made a hooded sweater in Jr. high sewing class lol.. that was over ten years ago now! Do you make your own clothes ?

I design and make a lot of my own clothes, that makes them unique and cannot be copied. I don't like following fashion and at least by making my own clothes, I am saving money.
